Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times when we’ve discussed the issue of early arrivals that, in my opinion, the only effective way to deal with recalcitrant 'offenders' is to apply membership sanctions.

I’ve been reading elsewhere of a CAMC member who, it’s reported, has had his club membership suspended by the Site Manager due to arriving early at Hillhead and refusing to leave despite being requested to do so by that Site Manager.

In this case it seems to have been the member's own lack of planning and forethought which resulted in his early arrival so it’s not a case of there being any extenuating circumstances.

Obviously only one side of the story is given and we need to keep open minds but, if this is factual, it would appear that the club is using its teeth in an effort to enforce the no arrivals before 1300 rule. Perhaps this is what is needed to get the message across.

Well I've just read the OP and the post referred to on the other forum. Seems to me a lack of common sense on the complainant's part. He/she say they've visited Hillhead before so must surely have been aware of the difficulty of suitable stopping places close to that site.  So surely the sensible thing would have been to explain that to the Exeter staff and ask if it was possible to stay on for half an hour or so. Failing that, used PD's suggestion above.

I was thinking the same, they knew the distance and time and staying on site somewhere hitched up or not might have been possible especially if they told the site staff why, is Exeter always busy?

b. If you’d like to remain later on-site, not necessarily on your pitch, have a word with the Site Staff. Be aware that charges may apply if you stay beyond 4pm

TG see my earlier post and there are laybys on the A380, the last is opposite Widdecombe Farm Caravan site.

Not saying this is what this member did but if some members are still arriving early because they want a ‘better’ pitch and the Club are tightening up on this is there anything to stop members who arrive the day before swapping pitches before 1pm? Just asking.

I think that already happens on some sites, I know we've done it in the past.

I can’t see why not as long as the warden gives permission.

More pertinent, perhaps, is the question of whether moving without checking with the warden would incur the sort of membership penalty we've become aware of here.🤷🏻‍♂️

Not about arriving early ED,  it's about their refusal to follow the site managers instructions. If they had left when asked there would be no sanction.

If its not about early arrivals why is the post titled  "Early arrivals - action at last?"

Because I started the thread about the membership sanctions site managers can allegedly impose on early arrivals. Had I not included the words "early arrivals" it would have made no sense and given no indication of the subject matter.
