Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times when we’ve discussed the issue of early arrivals that, in my opinion, the only effective way to deal with recalcitrant 'offenders' is to apply membership sanctions.

I’ve been reading elsewhere of a CAMC member who, it’s reported, has had his club membership suspended by the Site Manager due to arriving early at Hillhead and refusing to leave despite being requested to do so by that Site Manager.

In this case it seems to have been the member's own lack of planning and forethought which resulted in his early arrival so it’s not a case of there being any extenuating circumstances.

Obviously only one side of the story is given and we need to keep open minds but, if this is factual, it would appear that the club is using its teeth in an effort to enforce the no arrivals before 1300 rule. Perhaps this is what is needed to get the message across.

It all gets more complicated. There’s a review for Treamble Valley site from someone who arrived two hours early, parked on a grass verge, was not turned away but was charged £23 for arriving early.

You can get fined for parking on the verges where we live, are you sure this isn’t the case. Strange these folk don’t leave a review on the site page, where those thinking of staying there are more likely to see it. Personally I don’t take a lot of notice of reviews, we are only stopping a few days in any case, so are prepared to find out for ourselves. However if I did, I would look to the ones on the site page rather than other sources.

edit Just found it, you went back a fair way euro 27/7

Another revenue stream for the club, an Early Arrivals Surcharge. Say a set fee of £25 for an arrival prior to 13:00. I expect that would lead to better planning and attention paid to the Sat Nav. Or maybe some would see that as a premium for picking the best pitch available.

Or better still, come after 13.00

But that would only work if there were pitches available, impossible to do that now maybe possible under  ANPR but again no one, or any system knows when someone is going to leave, what happens if 20 pay the early arrival fee and there's only 10 pitches because enough haven't left?

Or even better add the £25 to the cost of the stay, arrive after 13:00 and get a £25 rebate. Everyone's a winner, even common sense.

That’s way off base they are totally separate issues. The blatant refusals engendered the possible sanction not the early arrival.

All inextricably linked.  In short if there had been no early arrival none of this would exist.  If the wardens had  not reacted as they did none of this would exist. If the manager had not reacted as he did none of this would exist.  If the member had not reacted as he did none of this would exist. It is all inextricably linked. A very unfortunate chain of events all linked that could have been avoided by the application of common sense and decency. Something in very short supply amongst CC Ltd staff it would seem.

More to the point, it could all have been avoided if the member had not arrived early.
