Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times when we’ve discussed the issue of early arrivals that, in my opinion, the only effective way to deal with recalcitrant 'offenders' is to apply membership sanctions.

I’ve been reading elsewhere of a CAMC member who, it’s reported, has had his club membership suspended by the Site Manager due to arriving early at Hillhead and refusing to leave despite being requested to do so by that Site Manager.

In this case it seems to have been the member's own lack of planning and forethought which resulted in his early arrival so it’s not a case of there being any extenuating circumstances.

Obviously only one side of the story is given and we need to keep open minds but, if this is factual, it would appear that the club is using its teeth in an effort to enforce the no arrivals before 1300 rule. Perhaps this is what is needed to get the message across.

I don't disagree about the root cause, but the chain could have been broken at any point by any of the players and the outcome changed for the better.

But one of the players was given two chances to break the chain yet did not take either and actually they had three, the first being to abide by they rules they agreed to and not arrive early, and which in my view they did so knowingly.

Also there was one player and one referee, not two equal players.

If the rules had been adhered to there would have been no chain to break

Yes, I fully comprehend that the two situations are different, but it’s fundamentally the same issue, one of staff being employed to enforce a rule, and one of visitors/members of the public/ whoever not complying with a rule. And being foolish enough to argue the toss, which is where things escalate.

I don’t happen to think that applying such a blanket policy is the best solution, but I can understand that in the face of what sounds like a growing problem, it’s possibly the easiest answer. Easiest in terms of applies everywhere, easiest in terms of all but the communicatively challenged being able to understand it, and the added bonus is that it will please all those Members who like things very clearly demarcated, nothing grey. Or as it’s known “you said, we did”.

It may yet trickle down to members  that 1300 earliest arrival time means just that

there have been on numerous days LVs being refused entry here and being sent away ,even though it involves going through three barriers to exit

Not sure if a site manager can without consulting others  withdraw membership

Yes we can suspend membership

It all gets more complicated. There’s a review for Treamble Valley site from someone who arrived two hours early, parked on a grass verge, was not turned away but was charged £23 for arriving early.

Apart form being sometime ago as pointed out I can't find any mention at all in that review saying they were two hours early Euro? It does say a couple of hours but that could be more or less than two hours, and in this case it's probably very elastic.

Also I've never ever heard of paying for being early, unless it is for use of the LNA where charges do apply.

There’s obviously far more to the story and, probably, a misunderstanding as well.

I wonder if the extra payment was the electricity surcharge? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The law of unintended consequences - I hope.  We are presently touring in France.  I have just had a conversation with a fellow camper.  He, and his wife, speak excellent English so hopefully no misunderstandings.  Their number two son and family with limited English, is currently touring UK in a "Camping Car" using a mix of sites including CC Ltd sites.  Today he turned up at XXXX CAMC site at 1100 hrs to be turned away "with aggression" his dad's words not mine.

I take it as many from overseas he did not have a booking either so did not get any, as all members get when booking , advance notice of arrival times? a lesson for the French when trying to tour in this very crowded.island

Would be less crowded if his country carried out what our government. paid them to do
