Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times when we’ve discussed the issue of early arrivals that, in my opinion, the only effective way to deal with recalcitrant 'offenders' is to apply membership sanctions.

I’ve been reading elsewhere of a CAMC member who, it’s reported, has had his club membership suspended by the Site Manager due to arriving early at Hillhead and refusing to leave despite being requested to do so by that Site Manager.

In this case it seems to have been the member's own lack of planning and forethought which resulted in his early arrival so it’s not a case of there being any extenuating circumstances.

Obviously only one side of the story is given and we need to keep open minds but, if this is factual, it would appear that the club is using its teeth in an effort to enforce the no arrivals before 1300 rule. Perhaps this is what is needed to get the message across.

It is where box ticking a draconian  order and common sense possibly collided

When firm rules are in place there’s no need for something like that elusive much abused ethereal ‘common sense’. A lot of folk bang on about it, all claim to have it but none actually know what it is🤷🏻‍♂️

As a way forward, perhaps CAMC HO could consider a better way of keeping all its members informed of any future actions it is putting into practice that could affect its members.

Whilst I don’t think arriving prior to the official time should be allowed to continue (and it obviously isn’t at this moment in time) I can’t  personally recall being made aware officially that site staff were going to turn members away if they arrived early.

Turning members away for arriving prior to the official time is such an ‘new’ action which it appears has caused some issues for some members and some staff which could possibly have been avoided if members had been made aware of it.

Many of us on CT have been saying this for years. Unfortunately nobody is listening. Or if they are totally ignoring us. They don’t even seem capable of sorting out who gets emails when they are requested. Or if requested, sending them consistently at the right time with  relevant information.
