Cost of C & MC sites

I chose to book this in the full knowledge that it is expensive, no regrets but worth putting on here anyway.

We tend to use sites in South Dorset in April, while beaches (Sandbanks, Bournemouth etc) are still open for dogs ( I know, I know)

Whilst in the New Forest last week we called at the Centennial site, liked what we saw so booked on line. 12 nights, April 2022 so off season. Full service pitch, 2 adults, 1 dog; 12 nights. £44.36 per night - ouch.

We usually use a commercial site at Lytchett Minster, which for full service, hardstanding, including streamable wifi - £30 per night (April 2020). Other facilities are on a par with CMC sites, except for the dog walk which is a whole field. A non returnable deposit of £50 is required here, but last year we were able to move the booking from April to October  (Covid) at no extra cost.

We wanted a change of scenery so decided to pay the CMC rate, and the location is better than Lytchett, with easy access to the New Forest. Now it could be that Lytchett's prices for next year will be hiked - I don't know.

Not complaining, just dispelling any remaining myths that CMC sites are cheaper for members than comparable commercial sites. Pays your money & takes your choice.

We are not using them at the moment, but I would also agree that the fixed shower heads are not good, especially when water pressure is low. I do not mind the fixed aspect, but why  can’t they have a directional end piece so you could angle the water towards the centre of the shower.

Steve, exactly my point....the fixed direction of the shower heads is aimed too near to the wall and drainage trough.

im of a reasonable height but if i stand near the centre of the shower then all the water lands between me and the wall.

If some think this is satisfactory, then good for them. I dont, and made mention of it on the post-visit survey at the sites we used on our earlier tour.

no response.

We have just spent 5 nights on the CAMC Banchory Silverbank site, and I can report that one shower in the male facilities now has a fixed shower head which can be moved to the angle you desire.......a big improvement.

Another one had the usual lift down head, the third one I did not inspect.

Excellent piece of “live reporting” K😁

Meanwhile, here at Marazion (no showers whatsoever) there appears to be some kind of Strictly Ballroom event going on, involving motor movers🤣

Forward, back, cha cha cha. Reverse and turn, cha cha cha. Not quite right, cha cha cha.......

Not many dogs here either, or if there are, they are very quiet. I have spotted a well supervised toddler though.....

Cannot believe how peaceful this place is after dark. All you can hear is an owl hooting somewhere nearby.

All for £16 per night😉

I generally agree Nellie. There are aspects of C&CC sites that I dislike such as their showers but I will still use them even if it means a strip wash instead of a shower, after all that was a common option 40 year ago. laughing.

I really don’t understand this facilities obsession/fascination with some. When I use I go in, do what is necessary ie. lather up wash down and retreat. To be honest it’s the end result that’s important to me not the experience!

The sites we chose were convenient for our tour, however, i did write back to the club (twice) with my observations in the hope that, as with other things apparently, they might improve things through listening to their customerswink

then my experience would be even more wonderfulsmile
