Hi everyone!

Share your views about our UK Club campsite facilities and earn a cash reward!

We’re partnering with Discovery Research, an independent research agency, to gather some feedback to help us deliver great holidays on UK Club campsites. We love to hear your feedback on likes and dislikes, suggestions for improvements and reactions to new ideas.

We’re now looking for some members to take part in a short online research community to help shape future UK Club campsite facilities.

About the research community:

  • The online community will run 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • There will be 3 tasks to be completed - one per day
  • Each task will take approximately 30-45 minutes
  • To help us understand your thoughts, we may ask you to share pictures/ video about the topics we will be discussing
  • By taking part you will earn a thank you cash reward!

To be eligible to take part you must:

  • Have visited a UK Club campsite in the past 12 months
  • Be available to participate 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • If you fancy participating and can answer yes to both of the above questions, simply register your interest before before Wednesday 6 April by clicking HERE to complete a short Google form hosted by our trusted partner Discovery Research.

As you’ll appreciate, we need to involve a really good mix of members to ensure we get well-rounded feedback, so whilst we won’t be able to follow up with everyone who registers, we do truly appreciate all interest shown. After registration, if you’ve been selected a Discovery researcher will be in touch with you to confirm your participation.

It is change and it is the way forward. Like it or not, things will not stay as they are so we evolve and embrace the future. The alternative is to crawl away into a dark place.

Very profound. I won’t be crawling away anywhere. Besides, there won’t be much room, too many people hiding away in there with their memory foam mattress, egyptian cotton sheets, central heating and fur lined toilet seats embracing change and the great indoors.

Aren't all those items also found in touring outfits too? Apart from the fur lined seats, that must be a special personal add on?

The issue is that on club sites these cabins are on nine locations I think, only are on very large sites  and less than 10% of club sites so you'll be easily able to miss such sites out if they spoil your time away that much.

I've stayed on sites with them, and in them too and never encountered any of the issues you have described, they are in my view an valuable addition, family can stay alongside outfits, and are 'future proof' and I expect judging by their popularity a nice little earner for the club.

You've often posted about them Bill, diluting of campsites, loud noise from these cabins and people staying outside late into the night causing it. That was you wasn't it?

Again off topic slightly so I'll leave it there.

I have no thoughts one way or another about "cabin users" there are good and bad to be found everywhere even on club sites. However what do feel each time I see cabins lined up on the docks at Hull is for every one of them  there goes 2 or 3 more pitches lost to touring campers.  Not only pitches but in many cases entire sites stop taking tours when  they  get a bigger return from mobilehomes, often financed and managed by third parties leaving the owner nothing to do but collect rent.

.

Same as you David, they don't currently affect me so no views re club sites but, as you say, the loss of touring pitches can affect those that like to tour.

When our daughter was at Bournemouth Uni we used a Hoburne site at Christchurch and over the 3 years the touring pitches reduced to zero.

Recently a site very close to us, Penmarlam which has been mentioned on CT a few times, has been bought by the 'Lovat Group' and all the touring and seasonal pitches lost.

We have also seen this in Italy, with a reduction in touring pitches, and one site in France a total loss of pitches.

I think the whole cabins/pods vs touring pitches will sort itself out-here’s the maths. . .folk willing to pay extra for a cabin is a +, folk refusing to pay ‘inflated’ prices for a pitch is a -. So Leisure companies follow the profits for survival👍🏻.

That might be ok if the CMC wasn’t a membership organisation as opposed to a leisure company solely pursuing profits for its owners and/or shareholders. It has a specific mission and the clue is in the title.
