Hi everyone!

Share your views about our UK Club campsite facilities and earn a cash reward!

We’re partnering with Discovery Research, an independent research agency, to gather some feedback to help us deliver great holidays on UK Club campsites. We love to hear your feedback on likes and dislikes, suggestions for improvements and reactions to new ideas.

We’re now looking for some members to take part in a short online research community to help shape future UK Club campsite facilities.

About the research community:

  • The online community will run 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • There will be 3 tasks to be completed - one per day
  • Each task will take approximately 30-45 minutes
  • To help us understand your thoughts, we may ask you to share pictures/ video about the topics we will be discussing
  • By taking part you will earn a thank you cash reward!

To be eligible to take part you must:

  • Have visited a UK Club campsite in the past 12 months
  • Be available to participate 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • If you fancy participating and can answer yes to both of the above questions, simply register your interest before before Wednesday 6 April by clicking HERE to complete a short Google form hosted by our trusted partner Discovery Research.

As you’ll appreciate, we need to involve a really good mix of members to ensure we get well-rounded feedback, so whilst we won’t be able to follow up with everyone who registers, we do truly appreciate all interest shown. After registration, if you’ve been selected a Discovery researcher will be in touch with you to confirm your participation.

That might be ok if the CMC wasn’t a membership organisation as opposed to a leisure company solely pursuing profits for its owners and/or shareholders. It has a specific mission and the clue is in the title.

It’s an organisation that has a need to survive & they’re doing a good job👍🏻. ‘Club’ is a misnomer a tip of the hat to its previous century legacy. C&MC can’t afford to be held to ransom by a vocal minority that wants to pay peanuts for pitches. It just don’t add up🤷🏻‍♂️

Has anyone taken part in this?

Would be good to hear how it went and if they thought it was beneficial

Tried to look through the comments but they just seem to be same people bating back and forth with not really much relating to the topic to say!

Yes, I did. I have posted quite  a number of times, as CS has pointed out. One other participant also reported back. (Apologies if anyone else did: I have rather lost the thread of the thread!)

The focus was almost entirely on loo facilities. Provision of pods / cabins / chalets - call them what you will - which has been the main focus of this thread, did not get a mention.

I must admit I found the focus just on toilet/shower faculties far too narrow. Is this the only aspect of club sites they were unsure about and wanted to test the water or get reaction? Is everything else 'secure' with them?

I wonder what the proportion of facility block usage is and whether the non users are contibuting more than their share in site fees? I can envisage future usage might need to be considered against energy costs in some way. Just a thought. smile

i don't believe touring will die just because ICE will no longer be available after 2030. Right now you can buy an EV capable of towing a fair sized caravan a reasonable distance and that will only improve. The future of motorhomes is less certain but there are already examples of EV motorhomes out there and what develops for the heavy haulage industry can be applied to motorhomes ( hydrogen) and of coause I don't see tents or trailer tents vanishing of the face of the earth.

Touring as we know it today will be still be with us long into the future, the method of transport will be different that is all..

My touring is drawing to a close but If I am still around, I certainly won't be a member of a Club that just runs statics or for that matter just luxury sites

Of course touring won’t die and I didn’t suggest it would, PD. However, it will sure be different and not everyone will be willing or able to swap to a non-ICE set up capable of towing or being converted to a MH and that’s where the static accommodation comes into its own.

Whichever way you look at it, change is coming.

Well I'm sure even the most ardent in-caravan shower user will use the toilets at some point so unless they'll be a way of separating them from showers it looks difficult as to how a separate charge could be made? It would have to be all or nothing?

From what I see as an ardent shower block user they are used quite a lot. I'm always up early but there are queues at times.

I’d have thought toilet/shower facility aspects would be the easiest thing of all for the club to reach decisions on without the need to employ a research company 🤷🏻‍♂️
