Hi everyone!

Share your views about our UK Club campsite facilities and earn a cash reward!

We’re partnering with Discovery Research, an independent research agency, to gather some feedback to help us deliver great holidays on UK Club campsites. We love to hear your feedback on likes and dislikes, suggestions for improvements and reactions to new ideas.

We’re now looking for some members to take part in a short online research community to help shape future UK Club campsite facilities.

About the research community:

  • The online community will run 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • There will be 3 tasks to be completed - one per day
  • Each task will take approximately 30-45 minutes
  • To help us understand your thoughts, we may ask you to share pictures/ video about the topics we will be discussing
  • By taking part you will earn a thank you cash reward!

To be eligible to take part you must:

  • Have visited a UK Club campsite in the past 12 months
  • Be available to participate 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • If you fancy participating and can answer yes to both of the above questions, simply register your interest before before Wednesday 6 April by clicking HERE to complete a short Google form hosted by our trusted partner Discovery Research.

As you’ll appreciate, we need to involve a really good mix of members to ensure we get well-rounded feedback, so whilst we won’t be able to follow up with everyone who registers, we do truly appreciate all interest shown. After registration, if you’ve been selected a Discovery researcher will be in touch with you to confirm your participation.

That might be ok if the CMC wasn’t a membership organisation as opposed to a leisure company solely pursuing profits for its owners and/or shareholders. It has a specific mission and the clue is in the title.

What is it's specific mission Bill?

The club also has holiday cottages and has had for a long time.

Very profound. I won’t be crawling away anywhere. Besides, there won’t be much room, too many people hiding away in there with their memory foam mattress, egyptian cotton sheets, central heating and fur lined toilet seats embracing change and the great indoors.

I think you’re totally missing the point. Nobody is talking about the silly frivolities other than you. It’s a fact that towcars aren’t what they were and oil burning MHs are becoming pariahs. Unless there are huge leaps forward in battery technology in the coming years, touring will change rapidly from the type we have known and enjoyed for so long to the type where people choose more static accommodation. Only those with their heads in the sand can’t see it.

Goodness, even the clubs have realised this and branched out into pods and cabins in an effort to meet members' needs into the future. They are to be applauded for that.

i don't believe touring will die just because ICE will no longer be available after 2030. Right now you can buy an EV capable of towing a fair sized caravan a reasonable distance and that will only improve. The future of motorhomes is less certain but there are already examples of EV motorhomes out there and what develops for the heavy haulage industry can be applied to motorhomes ( hydrogen) and of coause I don't see tents or trailer tents vanishing of the face of the earth.

Touring as we know it today will be still be with us long into the future, the method of transport will be different that is all..

My touring is drawing to a close but If I am still around, I certainly won't be a member of a Club that just runs statics or for that matter just luxury sites

Of course it won’t and it’s daft to suggest otherwise. People have been travelling around since the dawn of civilisation at an increasing rate. Those who claim to embrace change seem more inclined to embrace portents of doom & gloom. As we live ever more complex, stressful lives, the opportunity to enjoy simple ‘back to basics’ type experiences become more atttactive. Campsites are busy for a reason - people broadly like them and they like them just as they are (but cheaper).

Well you're totally wrong, I tried finding any such 'articles' or mission statement before I posted and couldn't and hence my question to you as you were so specific with saying the club's specific mission I thought you knew what it was? The club has so many strands apart from touring I would say?

I'm puzzled how you can speak for most others though?

I wouldn't worry too much though, say 100 of these cabins across 9 sites  and still 200+ sites with over 10,000 pitches is not likely to affect your idea of touring too much in my view, or even dilute it too much?

Back to basics? But you posted you got very grumpy if you couldn't get your morning shower in (due to the club not having standardised cleaning times) before you left a site?

I personally found it very much less stressful to simply arrive on a  site where my 'caravan' was already pitched. levelled, and all services connected. Not to mention driving and parking on the way was far easier too. All I had to do was walk in and bring my bags in. Not that I mind doing all that when I'm towing but it was certainly less stressful.

Has anyone taken part in this?

Would be good to hear how it went and if they thought it was beneficial

Tried to look through the comments but they just seem to be same people bating back and forth with not really much relating to the topic to say!
