I don't think it has been a good 6 months for the Caravan Club.

First of all we had the farce of COTY that was enough to put off anyone thinking of taking up caravanning. And not forgetting, of course, how to take a caravan up an impossible muddy bank so that you can remove the back end in the process.

Then there was the magazine change to the unreadable waste paper that it now is.

This was followed by the change to the website that is acknowledged as being pathetic and not fit for purpose - but with no apparent 'repairs' to it other than a very rapid change of club name.

Finally the debacle of the name change, logo change and enormous expense incurred for no benefit, a topic that has really got members back's up.

It's hard to imagine what the next fiasco will be but I guess there will be one.

Does anyone else see the similarity of the Wall Ice cream logo with the new club logo!

There is actually a striking similarity between the new Club logo and the original pennon which was made to represent the Club in 1907 - this is where the inspiration for the new logo came from1.  I guess this precedes the Walls logo.

The original pennon was 2 C's (one reversed) with a V intertwined in the middle (the V stood for motorvehicle - they had the foresight to understand that caravans would eventually and universally be towed by cars instead of horses).  The new logo is 2 separated C's (one reversed) with an M in the middle and more modern looking.  I thought it was quite a clever idea basing it on the 1907 pennon, but personally I would have made it a bit bigger.  Unfortunately I don't have a separate photo of the original pennon - I found it on a National Motor Museum document.  If I find a way of extracting it from the document I'll post it up.

That's the one DaveFL2. Thanks for posting.  Something went wrong when I tried to 'Quote' your post.  The bloomin' Walls logo came up so I've Deleted User the post above.  Enough ice cream for one day! laughing

Hi everyone,

I've removed the off topic posts from this thread. I'm enjoying reading about why you joined the Club and your thoughts on how we can offer more.

Like David I'd be interested in hearing more of your ideas, keep 'em coming!

Quite a few "New Ideas" were put forward in the SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW IDEAS... thread in this topic folder just recently. Maybe the club could comment on a few of them, otherwise members will just be repeating themselves, a not uncommon thing on CT I know.smile
