Loyalty not rewarded

The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members.

I have been a member of the Caravan Club for a number of years and have never hesitated in renewing my membership.

My 12 monthly subscription is due again at the beginning of next month and I had intended to renew again but was very disappointed to see that they are, at the moment, offering new members  a voucher for their first night on site. This is despite, I believe, a record numbers of new members joining the CAMC this year. Surely they should be  rewarding their current members ?

There are repeated complaints that insurance companies, internet providers etc. do not treat Loyalty like Royalty and perhaps the actual individual cost is not so great but I will not be renewing my membership until I intend to use a CAMC site or a CL again.

The freedom is great, even with the need to book sites at times.

I’ve known people who've done the coast trip. One lady locally bought herself a camper and set off to do the whole trip in one go. Others do it in sections spread over time. Give me a shout if you find yourself bound for the Cornish coast😀

If Cornwall is in the UK & near the coast then I’ll get to it at some point👍🏻🤣🤣

It matters not to me either but seemed to be a point of some interest to others.

My meaning was that if I travel from site to site then I obviously am not on the same/original site observing who stays, goes or returns. In that respect, you and JV will have superior knowledge as the observers of such habits.

On the other hand, I meet a surprising number of the same folk who turn up on different sites night after night as if we follow each other around. The nomadics, as we have been called😀

On the point of the club paying out for loyalty they have taken a huge financial hit due to Covid this year, last year they lost travel income because of Brexit fears which will be compounded on the next accounts. It might be better to let them encourage new members and income rather than decrease income via pay outs to the present "loyal" membership.

All money that members and other parts etc of the cc as also the ccc is reinvested in club facilities for the benefit of members

Not actually true, as quite large amount of the clubs' income goes on wages, expenses, tax, national insurance etc for those employed by the clubs and advertising of course.

An incentive to get non-members to join must surely be much the same as a loyalty bonus to existing members not to leave?

We've not had a MH long but in our experience on CC sites, there seems to be the full spectrum of MH use. Those that only stay a night, those that put up a MH using this pitch sign and go out for the day. Those that stay for 2 / 3 days like ourselves. Plus those that stay longer term. If the prevalence of awnings means anything, these were in fairly high numbers this September. I've, never noticed such high numbers before, so assumed it was a function of a different demographic to a normal September.

The good thing is that the CC caters for all types of stay. Not something that can be said for every supplier. Well worth our annual subscription. The wording on the T&C's for the introductory offer list quiet a few exclusions and seem to imply it has to be used on your first ever site night. That's unless it hadn't arrived, where it says it can be used on your next stay. So perhaps not possible to keep for a peak night.☹️
