Loyalty not rewarded

The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members.

I have been a member of the Caravan Club for a number of years and have never hesitated in renewing my membership.

My 12 monthly subscription is due again at the beginning of next month and I had intended to renew again but was very disappointed to see that they are, at the moment, offering new members  a voucher for their first night on site. This is despite, I believe, a record numbers of new members joining the CAMC this year. Surely they should be  rewarding their current members ?

There are repeated complaints that insurance companies, internet providers etc. do not treat Loyalty like Royalty and perhaps the actual individual cost is not so great but I will not be renewing my membership until I intend to use a CAMC site or a CL again.

The nomadic don’t go out for the day. They tend to be here tonight and gone tomorrow as the name implies. You’d probably not even notice them in view of their transient ways. 👍🏻

However, whatever folk do, they shouldn't be ridiculed, looked down on or even commented on for their choice.

Euro, surely you realise that those supermarket schemes in particular which they wrap up as loyalty rewards are actually data gathering and marketing exercises.

All companies gather data about me, and it doesn't trouble me at all.

If Emirates Airways chooses to collect data and add up how many miles I have flown with them and reward me with an upgrade every now and then that's OK with me. If Tesco chooses to collect data to know how much I have spent with them and reward me with cash vouchers in return then that's OK too. Good business practice.

Waitrose on the other hand knows how little I spend with them so sends me offers to try to persuade me to do better. Good business practice too.

I am sure this Club also collects data and knows exactly how much or how little I have spent with them in the last twelve months - but does nothing about it either way. No rewards for spending, and no encouragement to spend more. That seems bad business practice.

As JVB stated, they are not that prevalent on CMC sites.

I disagree but as I'm on the road and not staying on site, I’m not there counting them. Anyway, does it matter?

I’m not saying it should trouble you or that it's a bad thing but please don’t think it’s about loyalty because it isn’t. That's the myth they like to perpetuate.

There is a basic difference to the first part of your post and what you mention about the club

The first are all companies with shareholder with big profit sharing, and Waitrose to their staff as part of John Lewis

All money that members and other parts etc of the cc as also the ccc is reinvested in club facilities for the benefit of members

It matters not to me TW. I am not on site  at present either and have not been since December. I am just reporting what I have noticed over previous recent years.

I'll give you an example of loyalty. I have the gold watch my father got when he had worked 25 years for the same company.

I worked for 33 years for a large metropolitan council and after 25 years I could have had tea with the Lord Mayor. Mind you if I wanted my OH to accompany me I would have had to pay for her!

Posted on 25/10/2020 15:06

I  got two top quality(not gold) watches for 25yrs with my company one for my OH alsocool

One just needs a bit more touring with the cc to get  a loyalty rewardwink
