Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

Hospitality/Leisure businesses need last minute bargain sales. You only have a finite period to sell a pitch (or a table, or a room, or a seat, or a cottage, or a B&B bed) once that date has gone, it’s gone for good.

I tried this at a seriously nice residential pub in a very desirable Cornish resort. We were on our way down to our van, had decided to camp, but torrential rain ensued. So I bet my OH I could get us, and our two dogs a nice comfy room in a nice comfy pub. Dropped in at 4.30 pm, room was priced at £180. Didn’t want to budge. So we went for a mooch around, then I went into pub again at 7pm. Still got that room? Yep. Sold it to us for £70 plus we agreed to dine in bar. Not a bad deal. I was more chuffed at getting a second night for the same price though!😂 Food was excellent as well. We were happy, the landlord was happy as he had got some money for a room that he was unlikely to fill, and two extra diners. Some money is always better than no money for time sensitive commodities.

who has specifically said they are 'going over there and paying £50 a night' or getting a new car/MH...

my quotes were from an earlier post in this thread and I didn't get the impression that the poster would be doing what you suggest.

BTW, i was a director of our golf club for a fair few years and we did set senior membership fees at a lower rate, despite many of them being able to play more often than some who work all week.

IIRC, there was even a 'super senior' rate for very long standing members who had reached 'a grand age'.

I think you'll find certain over there poster has said that.

You were the director of a golf club? that is newssmile

Mmm you mention a lower rate, strange as you keep going on about inflation being the benchmark? Was the fee set above inflation? did inflation even come into your calculations?

Were the membership fees were perhaps higher than the club's?

😕 Did I say that?  Do you think it would do a better job of filling empty Pitches?

Posted on 26/04/2019 18:10

But it would mean higher site fees to pay them to "promote?" cheaper rateswink

I was not employed by IoD just a member and my fees were paid by my employer.

Posted on 26/04/2019 18:14

Does that still apply now retired?

😟 Think it through JVB.

Just a answer to say you still get the same "concession" from your employer now retired would sufficewink
