Insidious Development

Question!!! Why and Who made the decision to install static accommodation units on Club site's.Surely these sites are provided for members who take to the road in their own funded vehicles, why are we now being asked to fund the life style of these "Static Dwellers".Are these Static Units really for the use of friends and family? If so why is their a 10percent discount for members. No they will be rented out to people who have not the slightest interest in our way of life.If friends or family want to experience caravaning and motorhoming their is always the opportunity to hire.I would be pleased to be enlightened on what the perceived benifits are to the caravan and motorhome club member A further point is that the number of pitches available to members will be reduced this is especially important at peek periods.A large area at Coniston Park Coppice has been allocated to these Static Units complete with their veranda decking. We members are funding this cost and will not derive any benifit. It is time to stop this Insidious Development.

The CMC could earn much more money by providing Statics, Pods and Yurt type of accommodation, as described earlier. Touring Pitches on some of their sites are underused and earn nothing, except for weekends. Whereas with the alternatives listed above cash would roll in all week.

I'm not suggesting that all touring pitches be scrapped, but to give the customer a valid choice, which after all, is what all good businesses aspire to, an area  of each campsite could be dedicated to providing for those who prefer not to invest in a caravan outfit, but still want the camp site experience. Those people should be encouraged.

It would also be good, as the traditional trailer Caravanner would be able to mix, and enjoy the company of younger, more interesting people, who have a wider, more inclusive, experience of the real world..

Brue

I was given a tour of one of these at the NEC last October and they are very nice. Although modern they are not as obtrusive as a full sized static. If you wanted to go away to a campsite with non caravanning friends they could be the answer. Haven't seen one on site yet although did see the pods at Abbey Wood.

I was looking at the accomodation supplied by C&CC at Keswick and would certainly use myself for a few days break if not probably away elsewhere. laughing

That does not mean that I welcome them on any Club site

Like just about everything these days if the "accountants" think something will make money then its is given a "chance" but then if they look at something that in their eyes is not giving the "margins" that keeps them happy? then they seem not to allow investment until it dies, several sites seem to have gone that way and others look as if they could go the same wayundecided

I'm so glad you didn't have to leave us after all last year, K.

CT would be a much less amusing place without all the chuckles you provide us!   wink

The commercial sections bottom line is profit. The bottom line for CC sites should not be overall profit provided the CC empire is profitable.

Neither are they a charitable foundation. Their eyes should be on maximised profit from all sections to fuel growth & modernisation giving their customers an enhanced & reliably good experience๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Problem is with the younger people is that they are rapidly losing a sense of real world living unless there is someone to show them "mostly from the older population" what real life away from the fake world "social media"is likewink just read some of the comments that are posted on herecool

As far as I am concerned the core business should be aimed at caravanners, motor caravanners and those with trailer tents and not the general populace. That is why the Club is so named

As you rightly say ET, 'core business' are the apt words here! Those very few instances of alternative accommodation, 'peripheral business' may just provide us 'core' the opportunity to continue holidaying with our younger families or non caravaners a 'try before they join'.  Furthermore, such experiences may help grow the appeal and appetite for future caravan/motorhome ownership. ๐Ÿ‘

It’s good(as usual) to talk with you ET but you & I will never agree on most things so I’ll leave it there. Enjoy your day๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š
