Insidious Development

Question!!! Why and Who made the decision to install static accommodation units on Club site's.Surely these sites are provided for members who take to the road in their own funded vehicles, why are we now being asked to fund the life style of these "Static Dwellers".Are these Static Units really for the use of friends and family? If so why is their a 10percent discount for members. No they will be rented out to people who have not the slightest interest in our way of life.If friends or family want to experience caravaning and motorhoming their is always the opportunity to hire.I would be pleased to be enlightened on what the perceived benifits are to the caravan and motorhome club member A further point is that the number of pitches available to members will be reduced this is especially important at peek periods.A large area at Coniston Park Coppice has been allocated to these Static Units complete with their veranda decking. We members are funding this cost and will not derive any benifit. It is time to stop this Insidious Development.

The type of units (S Pods) being put in are quite attractive, small self contained and well designed and not like the large statics seen on big holiday sites.

A reasonable concern and one that I would also have.

I’m afraid the World is no longer run by dusty old males that hark back to the 18/19th centuries for the ‘good old days’ it’s now more inclusive. With inclusivity comes the ‘C’ word. . . .Change. Evolve or dieπŸ‘πŸ»

Brue

I was given a tour of one of these at the NEC last October and they are very nice. Although modern they are not as obtrusive as a full sized static. If you wanted to go away to a campsite with non caravanning friends they could be the answer. Haven't seen one on site yet although did see the pods at Abbey Wood.

This is the group of "safari" tents installed by the C&CC at Keswick where they have successfully blended in touring, statics and this style of camping. With the safari tents grouped together it makes a fairly safe area for children to play within view of their parents.

Some of my family are in France at the moment, staying in a gite but in the summer they'll be staying in a safari tent in the same area on the Loire. They like using them, they previously had a campervan and did years of camping but find this sort of accommodation easier now.

I have no doubt that renting out static accomodation can create income. However this is available on many commercial sites for those that want it.

The ordinary wooden pods, already on some sites, are much less well equipped but seem popular for those who still like basic camping but in something a bit more waterproof. smile

You & I are not the future ET, the C&MC cannot tailor the future to us. The future & survival of C&MC will be in the hands of the young. There are reasons why the commercial sector move on apace it’s because they are not held back by the voices of the pastπŸ˜•

The commercial sections bottom line is profit. The bottom line for CC sites should not be overall profit provided the CC empire is profitable.
