How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

one difference i discovered today.....the CCC late departure time is 5pm, so really useful, effectively another days holiday...

...One hour later thenWink

....a useful difference though......one that we shall make use of later, probably.

an hour gained (well five really) is always worth having.Happy

In main season both clubs have a departure time of 12 noon. It is only when sites are quiet that discretion comes into play.

It is certainly nice that it is available as an option if we had problems, but personally we would never use it. We either want to be on our way to the next site, to get set up, or on our way home to get the van put away in storage. Of course we are retired and I can see it would be useful to someone wanting to maximise a weekend. Although even then we never used the facility, as again we needed to get home and secure the van in storage, prior to work the next day.

steve, as we dont have to get involved with storage, we have just made use of 4 hrs of sunshine, cycling down close to Romsey.....really pleasant.

just had a late relaxing lunch/coffee prior to thinking about the hour plus drive home.

so, in effect, an extra day.....weather still wonderful (after the rest of the week).....should we stay another day....?

With such glorious weather I'd stay an extra day as there's no need to pay for EHU.

(You are on a non-EHU pitch I take it?! Wink. Use left and right arrows to navigate.)

I think the CCC is great for tent camping but I think the Caravan Club caters better for caravanners.

That is one real difference between the two main Clubs actually, both allow camping, but on the CC sites where camping is allowed, the camping area has always been a very long way from the facility blocks! (Leyburn, Wincanton, Tredegar House, as examples) Makes for a very interesting dash unless you have your own facilities in a toilet tent!Happy

please, take what you wish....

members can stay late whichever pitch they are on, and some have done so...Happy

flexibility is not pitch type dependant....Smile

Do I take it then, by the way you swerved the question, that you were on an EHU pitch, even though you had the option of non EHU? Nothing wrong with that, mind, it's exactly what I would do! Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.
