How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

Write your comments here...Hotels, guest houses, B&Bs all get less trade in the winter than in the summer but they still remain open, so why should it be different for caravans?

It isn't always the case, when we lived on the Isle of Wight lots of the guest houses and b&bs closed for the winter. So why should all caravan sites stay open?

Some stay open and others close but probably many staying open run at a loss but not as big a one as shutting but if everybody stayed open there would simply be insufficient trade. You have to look at the economics, staying open has a cost and you need to get more income than the cost of staying open to justify opening.

Another point is hotels and the like can often get more income by selling meals and drinks where the club cannot which improves the hotels position and guest houses where the owners live in have no additional costs staying open.
