How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

A new odd thing happening with this thread.  Whatever link I use to access it all that gets displayed is the post count, no text or other details. If I then post as I am doing now, it all displays as normal.

The conspiracy theorists may see this as a subtle new way to bury a thread so it cant be read.

Just booked a serviced HS at Sandy Balls for next month. Four nights for forty quid. Bargain.

Excellent bargain CY. It'd be daft not to take advantage of it.

Of course, you'll spare a thought for those families who will be paying sky high prices in school holiday time to subsidise exactly this sort of special offer!  Wink. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Write your comments here...Sorry M I cannot agree with your argument (highlighted in bold).      In keeping with the leisure industry standard, camping sites discount their prices during off peak periods to encourage otherwise empty pitches being used.  The prices the leisure companies  charge during peak periods are the standard charges for those pitches. So if anybody is subsidising others it is those who utilise the sites during the off peak periods who help keep the peak prices from being even higher.

Cool

We'll have to agree to disagree on that then, K. But as you say pricing structures are the same throughout the leisure industry, I do agree there. Fortunately the CC, for all its faults on pricing hasn't jumped on the bandwagon to the same extent as Haven, Sandy Balls etc. Still, good luck to those who are able to take advantage of these offers.

I still prefer the Caravan Club sites if and when they are available. The problem at this time of year is that there are no club sites open in the location where I need to be. That will change after the 18th March when Northbrook Farm CC site in Worthing opens. That location is ideal for us. Unfortunately, it has been closed for the last four months because the club refuses to keep it open for winter caravanners like ourselves.

Sometimes the decision to open all year is financial (i. e. not commercially viable) and sometimes it's a planning constraint. A small independent (former CL) near us, got commercial planning permission, but only for March to November.

With regard to Sandy Balls their system seems to charge very high figures during peak periods and giveaway ones outside these. The difference is though they have lots of other ways to take your money when you are there so are not comparable with club sites who do not and presumably rely on those extras to balance the books.

Write your comments here...I can't understand why there should be planning constraints that restrict the opening and closing dates of caravan sites. It seems a waste of a resource. Why can't caravan sites be caravan sites in the winter as well as the summer?

To prevent those people amongst us who live permanently in caravans and are reputed to often help to recycle other people's scrap metal.

Write your comments here...So that surely is a commercial decision rather than a planning constraint!

We joined the C&CC this year just to use one particular CS which is only an hour from home and is absolutely outstanding - loads of space - immaculate shower/toilet block and beautiful views - all for £15 pn.  For me, that facility alone justified the £37 per year subscription. Went twice this year and plan to go again in the future.

Write your comments here.  we have just joined the c/c/c the site you mentioned sounds fantastic, would you please say which one it is,

Jury is still out for us on joining other club, as we don't spend that much time in the UK on sites. However we are interested in the rallies the other club holds in Spain and Portugal in winter, they might fit nicely with our thoughts of extended holidays at the back end of the year.

Has anyone used these rallies, and if so what are your comments please.
