How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

At this time of year and with the unusual weather - I would say the booking system of the CC is a far better option - being able to cancel a booking - although I suppose since its winter and there could be availability.  I haven't had a lot of luck finding well priced CLs open where I want to go.

My main uses for the C&CC mag are all the rally and THS lists, this year we'll be making more use of these with both clubs.

I did ask before, does anyone now what proportion of C&CC members have taken up the reduced online membership option?

I don't know what the current take up is but initally it was less than 20 percent of members. I think it is now in the second year of its introduction so probably higher now. I took the lower cost option because I don't use its services that much but this year I hope I can use it more.

The C&CC system of advertising its rallies and Temporary Holiday Sites is much more user friendly than the CC system.  Living in Scotland the CC  rally book covers all Scottish centres, but it is too time consuming to trawl through all the centre websites to find rallies in areas I'm just visiting.  Using the C&CC magazine is much easier. Last year I saved many times my sub by going on THSs for around £7 a night in the main holiday season.

Online membership does not interest me as I like to have the sites book and the magazine to browse through for sites and THSs. As people can change their membership between online and paper from year to year I suspect that some will go for online for a couple of years and then switch back to get a new Sites Book.  After that they will go back to online again.

one difference i discovered today.....the CCC late departure time is 5pm, so really useful, effectively another days holiday...

The "leaving time" isn't 5 pm, it's noon. But you can ask for a later stay as you obviously did. And at this time of year you can almost certainly do like wise at CC sites - it's no big difference. Try asking in high season though !

The only reason i joined the "other" club was to give me greater flexibilty when choosing were to stay , i'm not really interested in the "in's and out's" of each club

I book ,i stay ,i enjoyHappy
