How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

with the mad rush to book key dates and sites, 'speculative bookers' can be as speculative as they like.....see the example a few posts up, where members have freely admitted to booking several dates across the year and then choose the one with the best weather and then dump the rest just within the 27 hr period.

Where was that please?

here you go, Steve....

" I have had several conversations with members who admit to booking up weekends and holidays at there favorite haunts knowing that they will cancel a good proportion of them. One couple said they wouldn't be able to afford every booking they made but as they could choose the best weekend for them nearer the time at no cost or penalty they used it to there advantage."

BB - every year since the forum opened at this time of year a few folk come on and claim that they've met a few others on site who claim they book their favourite site every weekend and then cancel etc etc. Yet the club says that on frenzy day only a small number of members make even double figure bookings. You don't strike me as the naive sort - do you not think there may be a bit of winding up involved here? Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

similarly, we get reports every year of gas attacks, muggings and all sorts happening to anyone venturing out of the uk in a MH ....surely these are wind ups too?

if i could have been bothered to join in the frenzy (no thanks) i might have had a crack at a few multi-savers at Chatsworth or BW....after all, no point in getting a booking and then having to endure crap weather.....Undecided

Yes, but the point is that these claims are made and there's never any evidence of it being true. I don't do frenzy day either but I also don't come on complaining about not being able to get exactly the site I want when I want as a few (not you!) do. If you or I did go for a lot of block bookings would either of us then go around bragging about it to other members? I don't think so, do you?

M, not on a forum where we are accountable, but you might tell your mate how easy it was to 'goof' the system....

speaking of 'evidence'....Peedee has repeatedly asked for stats where the amount of cancellations by date (in relation to the booking) be presented by CC......never a squeak.

CC can tell us whatever it likes about 'late cancellations', 'block bookings' and 'the effects of deposits (or not)'.

id certainly take most of those with a pinch of salt.....

Yes, Ian H kept asking for those statistics as well and they'd certainly be interesting.

But I for one would tend to put more stock by what little the CC have told us than a few hearsay claims from a small number of individuals with an axe to grind.

Incidentally, if some folk do indeed book loads of weekends at the same site (can't imagine whi they would!) as long as they've done it after frenzy day and intend to use them they've done nothing wrong surely?

Thanks BB

However this evidence is hearsay and as such may not necessarily be considered admissible. Not in a court of law anyway. CC is of course not a court of law. However, I would be wary of accepting something I was told, by someone I did not know. How can you have any gauge of accuracy in a chance conversation. I am assuming the person being quoted did not know them, as the wording is members not friends.

I'm quite laid back about the  subject - I generally like to holiday in stunning rural areas and not urban areas so generally don't have a problem finding a site with available pitches at short notice.

What I will comment on is a  paragraph by BB in an earlier post

Unquote.

This highlights the attitude of Grimstead to requests by members for information.

Having tried several searches I have come up with this link. I suspect the forum is not up and running yet.
