How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

It's extremely basic and error strewn.

Whenever I tried to click on a post - all I got was an error message.

I tried to start a discussion to highlight the error message problem and - yep, I got an error message!!

Surprised

BB Do yo have to pay a deposit for every site you visit in Europe?  I suspect not then why should we have it here?  for me it is one of the differnces between the clubs and puts me off booking with the other one.

However I will say that some weekends we ahve gone away last minute and just looked at what was available have been the best ones, no expectations and these we have booked through the other club mostly.

I do however object to their policy of allocating a pitch and have never been offered an alternative so thats another plus for the CC in our books, Oh and beleive it or not I find the CC booking system much easier to use and understand, the pricing policy on the other site is useless and is a pop up box instead of a price on the page of the site, so confusing but at least there you can book a hard standing pitch.

generally, i dont Michael, but then again we rarely have to book....and this is the main difference.

in France, you turn up and you will find a pitch and then pay when you leave.....so you might ask...why doesnt the CC ask for payment when you leave if ypure looking for similarity...

with the mad rush to book key dates and sites, 'speculative bookers' can be as speculative as they like.....see the example a few posts up, where members have freely admitted to booking several dates across the year and then choose the one with the best weather and then dump the rest just within the 27 hr period.

nothing to do with France.....i just dont think this is right.

CCC do not choose a pitch for you, this is a total myth. we always choose our own pitch....yes, someone will help you locate those pitches which fulfill your criteria....quiet, nr showers, away from showers, sunny, shady etc....and they will also escort you to the pitch.....but not if you're happy to find it yourself.....and if you dont like the pitch you can change it just like with any other sensible site.

i agree the booking computer system is better on CC, but i do like the fact that with CCC you can easily select ehu/not, grass/hs, service/not......we have yet to see the CC booking system in action for HS and to witness the fallout of those members who miss out at booking time and cant do without an awning....

Slightly off topic but we went away a couple of weeks ago and had to return a day earlier than expected ( and paid for) to avoid the 45+ mph winds forecast for the following day - we were unable to stay on due to the site being fully booked BUT  a credit was not allowed to be given - how can this be right when we found ourselves in a Catch 22 situation, if it is OK to cancel  beforehand without financial penalty why does it not work both ways?

BB - every year since the forum opened at this time of year a few folk come on and claim that they've met a few others on site who claim they book their favourite site every weekend and then cancel etc etc. Yet the club says that on frenzy day only a small number of members make even double figure bookings. You don't strike me as the naive sort - do you not think there may be a bit of winding up involved here? Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Its working fine for me and they have a PM facility.  Will be spending time there in future Wink.  The rules are fine and guidance seem sensible - not a lot of waffle.  It remains to be seen how well it is moderated.

yes, managing to gently find my way around, different though.

i see michaelT is there and DD....Happy

similarly, we get reports every year of gas attacks, muggings and all sorts happening to anyone venturing out of the uk in a MH ....surely these are wind ups too?

if i could have been bothered to join in the frenzy (no thanks) i might have had a crack at a few multi-savers at Chatsworth or BW....after all, no point in getting a booking and then having to endure crap weather.....Undecided
