Excessive site fees

Just returned from Chester Fair Oaks site, one night, £31.30 !!, I nearly choked on my dentures, It was our first trip out this year, only able to book something last minute.Ok, apparently, our over night stay was classed as still in  the 'High' season, but £31.30 per night (two adults) to stay in my own caravan is ridiculous. The club is in danger of  killing the goose that layed the golden egg. it's easy sometimes to forget that we have also paid a membership fee for the privilege of being charged so much.

I actually referred to 'out of season and mid-week', Corners.

But no matter, just to be clear - JVB and Corners - are you saying that you are perfectly happy wih the recent substantial increases in CC site fees and 'spreading out' of the more expensive seasons, on top of a further increase of 5% in membership fees?

And would you be just as happy with similar increases next year?

And how did you get the mid week figures?what you are actually trying to say is you have no real idea ,and to try to give your argument some semblance of sense clutching at straws

Surely nobody would object to substantial reductions in midweek and off-peak prices to gain income from otherwise unused pitches.

This of course would be offset by the annual increases in weekend and peak time prices.

This is the normal business model across the leisure and holiday industry.

and so did I for midweek, but as most club sites are closed out of season I assume you mean off peak? ie now,  but you havn't answered how you know club sites are empty off peak and/or midweek as you claim not to visit them.

As to your second question, unlike you (who are on a club site now I believe?) if I was not happy with club prices then I wouldn't go?

Also I do not think that there have been substantial rises, if I thought so I would not pay them.

So if you are so unhappy with club prices why did you pay them? It just sounds so strange, pay up for something you yourself claim is expensive when as you say there are other chepaer sites just as good?

Not having the confidence to try anything other than what they are used to (and therefore being willing to pay whatever the CC chose to charge them) hardly makes someone the best judge of what is reasonable in terms of cost (or even quality) does it?

(incidently, to answer your point yet again, Corners.....we have reduced our usage of CC sites from about 85% of bookings to less than 25% over the last couple of years).

Interesting use of specific percentages! Just wonder what percentage of the membership this poster personally represent? Just interested mind! Wink

Ian, I'm shocked to learn you are currently staying on one of the most expensive sites on the CC network.

I thought you would have shunned that one to show a moral stand against CC's pricing policy rather than paying up and condoning their practice.

Unfortunately "now" is one of the second most expensive periods on club sites, as from 22nd June.  We are arriving at Malvern Hills tomorrow,  and there is no mid-week discount available either.
