Excessive site fees

Just returned from Chester Fair Oaks site, one night, £31.30 !!, I nearly choked on my dentures, It was our first trip out this year, only able to book something last minute.Ok, apparently, our over night stay was classed as still in  the 'High' season, but £31.30 per night (two adults) to stay in my own caravan is ridiculous. The club is in danger of  killing the goose that layed the golden egg. it's easy sometimes to forget that we have also paid a membership fee for the privilege of being charged so much.

Ian, I'm shocked to learn you are currently staying on one of the most expensive sites on the CC network.

I thought you would have shunned that one to show a moral stand against CC's pricing policy rather than paying up and condoning their practice.

and then complaining about it as well

I really think you need to moderate your tone......that is a very unpleasant thing to say about Corners.

Well, as it's a special year and we wanted to be in this area, we thought we would treat ourselves and blow the cost. Smile

We also went tge tge RSC theatre the other day - incredibly expensive, but we paid it as a one-off. We don't often indulge in such luxuries. Smile

Bit much when a caravan site is thought of as a luxury, eh? Undecided

I'm shocked! Blow the cost? Welcome to the real world, Ian. You're beginning to understand why people use CC sites - because it suits them to do so. Choice, eh?Happy

and... when you want the best, a luxury, you decide to go to a club site? Doesn't this go against all you have said about club sites being nothing special?

Not having the confidence to try anything other than what they are used to (and therefore being willing to pay whatever the CC chose to charge them) hardly makes someone the best judge of what is reasonable in terms of cost (or even quality) does it?

(incidently, to answer your point yet again, Corners.....we have reduced our usage of CC sites from about 85% of bookings to less than 25% over the last couple of years).

Interesting use of specific percentages! Just wonder what percentage of the membership this poster personally represent? Just interested mind! Wink

We are currently on our 64th night this year and not one has been on a Club site. As we don't expect to use any at all we have decided not to renew our subscription

Just to redress the balance with some real costs we have paid per night in the last 10 days away for 2 adults.

Minehead CC Site £21.10 HS with Electric

Trewethett Farm CC Site £18 Economy grass pitch (views on the cliff edge but miles from facilities)

Ramslade CC Site £21.10 HS with Electric

Charmouth C&CC Site £24.20 HS with Electric (poor quality pitches and ancient fresh water points)

Herston Yards Farm £25 Private Site HS with Electric & Water (poor site, dirty showers and facilities)

Setley Ridge Vineyard CL £15 (no facilities only electric hook up, water tap and waste disposal miles from pitches)

Battle Normanhurst Court CC £21.10 HS with Electric

So apart from a no facilities CL the CC sites were cheaper and in our opinion of better quality especially compared to private and C&CC sites and not in our view excessive....

The actual cost of anything has to be measured against value. The only person that can measure value is the user. Hence to some CC sites equate to poor value whereas to some they represent value for money.
