Dynamic pricing to be introduced

Apparently dynamic pricing is to be rolled out to all UK campsites during 2023.

Which means that those that book up to a year ahead will be able to take advantage of the lowest prices.

Those who for whatever reason cannot commit to booking so far in advance will be penalised if they wish to book closer to the time of travel because apparently the higher the popularity of a campsite and the closer to the time of arrival the booking is made, the higher the price may be.

As with all the changes that have happened during the last 6 months, where were any or more importantly ALL the members consulted and balloted regarding these changes?

Many older members (like ourselves) cannot commit to long term bookings due to medical considerations, appointments that may arise because of these etc; we have previously just set off when able on a ‘tour’ and then by way of the (what was) late availability checker booked ‘on the fly.’

We have already been penalised with the 21 day non-returnable deposit system which really could have been much fairer reduced to 7 days.

I used to fiercely defend the CAMC as a great organisation to be a member of but this latest move has been the nail in the coffin for us personally.

Thanks David. I wish that new member's post were approved more quickly, and that they are given notification for the delays in their posts not appearing. I rather fancy that some of those new members have just given up continuing with CT when they can't find their posts or responses to queries they have made.

A new poster sees a banner saying their posts need approval which will be done when they’ve made 3(?) posts. However, that’s not the case and we often see posts making their first appearance 4-6 weeks after they’ve been written. Welcome to CT, eh? 🙁

They, HO, seem just to keep making things harder for new members to CT. You would think that they would want to encourage new member's by making posting simple, but the opposite seems to be the case. Is it any wonder that we see so few new names posting often?!!

I said something very similar to Rowena when she reactivated my login.

Nellie

If I see such posts are more that a few days old I usually report them just as a reminder they need approving. Doesn't mean that I can't miss the odd one.

Well done, It's good that someone is trying to help new posters, David, but HO do need to be more on the ball, and not be relying on Mods to get thing moving along.

I understand the concept and why some companies use dynamic pricing. In Germany it applies to petrol/diesel on an almost hourly basis. However, for the ‘Club’ to go down that route is a step too far for me and I am disappointed this has only come to light via regular visiting if this forum. I may have missed it however where is the member notification?

Its called flexible pricing and is already in place.

As part of the new project to improve the booking experience for members, the existing booking systems are being replaced. The new systems allow the Club to offer more flexible prices to members - in future this will allow the Club to potentially set lower annual price increases than it currently does to pitch, adult and child prices; and allows prices to increase by a small amount where booking volumes are higher than expected, or, for later bookings. The Club’s also introducing deposits and new cancellation terms which will free up availability by reducing cancellation volumes, so that you find it easier booking a pitch at a site and on a date that suits you.

This new flexible approach to pricing combines with other key elements of the project - the introduction of deposits, the new interactive map on the Club’s website, a new mobile App, a faster check-in process and greater choice of bookable pitch types - to provide better value for members and a better booking experience.

These positive changes will help more members find more available pitches which in turn provides a little more revenue for reinvestment back into improving the UK Club campsite network, for the benefit of members staying on our sites. (For context, during 2022 the Club’s investing over twenty million pounds in maintaining and improving the campsite network, with developments taking place across the network.)

With the new improved booking system, pitch fees will be slightly lower for early bookings and slightly higher for bookings placed closer to the date of arrival.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input J but I hope you are also keeping an eye on what commercial sites are doing. One I use regularly has just dropped its low season price for hardstanding electric pitches by £4 p.n. plus is offering 33 percent discount for 2 nights or more in March.
