Covid 19 and membership

As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

However you look at it, membership fees (£16M p.a. and 14 pecent of income) only make a small difference to the Club's typical running costs of £110M p.a. I would have thought the latter would be cut right back as much as possible during the emergency. Nevertheless membership fees will still only be a small portion of costs and will hardly contribute a great deal to the Club in a prolonged lockdown of the country. It would seem to me it would make very little difference to the Club’s mounting debt position if the Club was to offer membership extensions for the duration of the suspension of Club services. At least it might help retain those members who chose not to pay membership fees in times of hardship.

I only posted to say what the club is losing but you have proved my often said saying that percentages are meaningless, 14% doesn't sound a lot but it equates to £16,000,000 and that is a lot and I'm puzzled as to how you think that is only a small portion or can be thought of as being a throwaway?

There is no refund and if people choose to not renew to save their £54 if their renewal occurs during lockdown that is up to them but I suspect it will be due mainly to other (perhaps disgruntled or not getting VFM) reasons than real hardship, but I recognise that there are members that are suffering financial hardship and then of course it is a no brainer and I would think they would still not renew, or be retain like you suggest, even after all this is over and they are rebuilding their lives.

But for those like you and me who are very fortunate that we are not in this position should we not support the club fully rather than asking like you seem to be doing for an extra three months extension just because other clubs/organisations are?

Did the C&CC steal the march over the C&MC?

I have had an extension added to another subscription apart from the C&CC.

I wonder if they saw all the discussion here and thought they could get one over the CMCsmile

In terms of overall income in excess of £100M it is. A deferment would cost nothing, even less by application which I advocated up thread days ago.

Perhaps the only reason some are offering extensions is that they fear losing their members to other competitors perhaps the club doesn't?

PD respect that you can even think that £16,000,000 is a throwaway no matter what is it compared to. Personally I can't.

Of course it would cost money, under your idea for those three months people who would be renewing wouldn't, maybe they would after three months but for those three months they would not and that is simply lost income while overheads are still there.

As I said for those in hardship they should not even think about renewing.

But for the likes of you and me it just adds up to wanting something for nothing, even worse something that we do not need, or will miss (or will you?) and we all have bigger things to worry about.

I think we should support our club and not push for a deferment as you seen keen on just because others are or someone wants something for nothing?

No doubt about it but that’s different from clubs to which we pay membership fees . 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have read the comments over the past days  so to conclude there are members which are going to keep paying to keep the club going and those that are not but may join after Covid 19 when every thing is back to near normal so which ever you decide that's fine stay safe keep safe
