Covid 19 and membership

As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

Perhaps the only reason some are offering extensions is that they fear losing their members to other competitors perhaps the club doesn't?

You like clutching at straws CS.laughing Personally I don't care one way or the other what the Club does or doesn't do. It would be fairer to defer renewals which would also show the Club in a better light.

I doubt that it is so much a fear of losing members as a realisation that forgoing a few months membership fees will ensure retention and in the case of the CMC might cost £4 million. But anybody renewing now would put their cash up for use by CMC now even if the membership renewal was extended - sounds very much a win, win to me.

Don't you mean could rather than would. That seems to me to make your statement clearer?

If not clubs plenty of very good camp sites owner run

Posted on 12/04/2020 15:32

They do? I have had LVs since about 1965 I joined the cc in 1969 when when my then FIL lent the money for the first old caravan and sponsored us into the cc ,after my daughter was born ,as he was not having his Grand Daughter,in a trailer tent,

We have used many sites since then,   both "over there" , and mostly in England and Wales when here, as we have got older we no longer take LVs overseas (except IOW to see my brother and family) and have lately used cc sites (over 200 nights last year)we with many other members ,now do not need the "lottery" of private sites or cls

So we have not even considered not staying with the CAMC

@ CS .... it just adds up to wanting something for nothing,

Is that not what the CC is wanting? ie they want the money for nothing in return

Not at all PD. Could you explain why rather than playing the man? Also why would it be fairer? fairer to you perhaps but not to others?

But I think you do care quite a bit as you keep posting about this matter and pushing for it, about five so far and keep posting with emotive language, 'fairer; 'stole a march' 'very few subscription services not offering extensions' (really? I could say the opposite with mine) and now 'show the Club in a better light'. You appear very keen and care for the idea a lot PD.

Not really at all MM. Easily shown, so are you saying that its head office staff, magazine staff, ongoing costs (insurance, rent, energy costs) are all nothing? Those bills do not need to be paid? Is this all nothing to you?

I'm prepared to keep that going, if you are not that's fine too.

But the club seem to want it all one way ,with wanting the members to keep paying but at this moment in time not offering anything in return , such as an extension on membership , even when I had my shop sometimes I put customers before profits

Wish I had a £ for every time you trotted this one out CS.

help yourself but true all the same, and as you haven't come back with any rational discussion to my points about you caring so much about getting a three month deferment and lost income for the club, you've done it again PD smile
