Covid 19 and membership

As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

No-one should feel pressured or guilty about £54 to renew a membership especially if their  own finances are reduced at the moment.

A lot of supposition on the £13.50 figure. Site closures could be for the long haul I fear.

Good luck everybody with the club and keep paying your subscriptions

Any one would think the CC is a charity ..... innocent

tivano, as the DG says in his recent communication....its a members club which relies (in part) on the subscription base.....you either support that or leave...your choice. After all the subscription fee is little more than a bottle of single malt.wink

Took the advice of GPT and bought a bottle of single malt and very nice it is too

The answer to this is whether or not you wish the club to survive.

The sites will still need to be maintained, cutting grass and hedges etc, and staff will need to be paid.

In the grand scheme of things, even if this lasts a year, £54 is not lot of money to lose, especially when you consider the cost of either a caravan or a motorhome, and I am more than happy to forfeit this if it means that the club remains open and that I can continue in the future to make use of the best sites in the country

I mainly just use CLs & if the CC was to fold I'm sure the CLs would find a way to stay open.

But the CC is worth £millions so I doubt it'd fold.

I don’t think it is a club ,but a multimillion pound leisure industry , I think they have a few quid in the bank

I am sure it has but how much income is being lost due to the sites being closed?

For simplicity, there are about 200 sites, so over a peak BH period some will be full, some not, so let's assume 60% occupancy rate across the network over the Easter weekend, at 50 pitches per site average (probably too low) and one pitch over peak will bring in an average of £25. so the income for one night alone is £150,000. Over a BH weekend perhaps three nights is perhaps £450000. Then there are the two BH weekends in may as well

Now I have no idea what the occupancy rate is between peaks but some sites are full all the time and so you get the idea how long reserves will last.

Well ,I’ll take my chance that the “club” will still be there when this is all over , but if it’s not there will probably be  lots of other camp sites to choose from !

It is a club in the sense that its membership are critical. In fact members are instrumental in the running of the club, always have been. All members can in fact become as involved as they wish in the 'politics' of the running of the club. This is not a unique governance of a business but very different to many other providers in this industry. Much of what happens to the club is down to gross national economics but we members can make a difference if we really want to.
