Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

Sorry Michael, rebranding a multi million pound company costs very serious money and I speak from experience.

Posted on 23/02/2017 11:52

But this is not going to be that much, it is a UK company with limited membership.  Until the costs come out in the annual accounts we can all dream how much its going to be or not be but it is not going to be millions.  And even if it did in the long run by attracting new younger members and be the choice club for people buying motorhomes as this is the growth market it will surely pay for itself in the long run.  As Rochelle says its not all about a new logo and name its a step change in the way the club operates and thinks.

I find it quite disturbing to witness the outpouring of this entire phobia as to whether a member owns a:-

Trailer Caravan - Caravan - Motor Caravan - Motorhome, etc, etc, etc.

Especially as the, now CAMC’s, Membership demographic is biased toward the latter  end of the age spectrum, one might have expected (well I did) that such childish ‘hang-ups’ would have been abandoned in the playground when one left Infant School.

Has Rochelle ever given a concrete example of a single change.?

All I ever hear are words - I always thought actions speak louder than words.

What about a categoric right - no ifs or buts -  to stay on site later on a Sunday.

Received my childish looking stickers this morning. They will not be adorning my vehicle or caravan.

There is alo a printing error on the said sticker.

It states: 'Since 1907'  under the new style graphic.

Obviously the Caravan Club can lay fame to that year age.  Surely, Caravan and Motorhome Club can't as it only hatched in 2016/17.  Misleading to say the least.

It was originally the caravan club of great Britain and Ireland but in all the guises it has still been in existence since 1907.  Barclays bank started out life as lots of other banks but can still say it goes back to 1690.  Lots of companies change names over the years but its still the same company...

Facebook is getting more staff responses. D3an is busy there at the moment.

Same script though. New images...member offers...we're very excited. Etc

No facts or proposals yet. Still can't book a HS or get an answer about Mildenhall let alone Broadway, Cadeside or Minehead. I did get a sarcastic response by a club employee though if that counts

As this thread approaches 100 pages it is interesting to note that many of the pages are filled by the same people making the same negative comments. In other words we do not have 100 pages of negative comments by Members but rather many many repeat posts by the same people making the same criticism.

Trouble is it is not going to attract younger members as the barrier to entry (cost of a caravan or MH) is way beyond the means of many younger folk perhaps with a family and lets be honest, so many see a Caravan as an old hat for ancients (perhaps less so for a MH but look how much they cost) and re branding won't change perceptions no matter what the marketing company might claim. The Caravan club will never attract the young 'uns like the Camping club can.(and does)

If I'm right (time will tell) all this exercise will do is alienate loyal members and not really attract new entrants. Then the club will be in real financial trouble.

A very high risk strategy IMHO for little or no reward.

But if the site is fully booked then you are denying people coming on site a pitch till you decide you have had enough and go home.  There has to be some cut off time but at present if the site is quiet the warden can allow you to stay later.

An action they should not invoke is to upgrade all the MSP within a year not the original 20 year span given before.

I think the Heading for this post is quite indicative. Starting off with 'same club' seems to me to highlight a concern that the club has that members might think there has been a take over.

Michael your estimations are very narrow. You need to put a value on the brand and the possible losses a change can make. McDonald's brand name is worth about £30billion. Do you think they would ever call themselves 'The Hamburger and Nuggets Company' to reflect the products they sell. No they value what the brand does for their business and so should the "Caravan" Club. What is a shame is that someone understands the the brand name value when they put the old logo on the envelope to try to ensure the letter was not treated as junk mail.
