Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

The cost of changing this must have been considerable enough, but what about changing the signs at the hundred's of sites?

Incidentally a motorhome is a caravan with an engine.

Rochelle, maybe to help ease the very many unhappy members of our so called "club" YOU SHOULD PUBLISH THE FEEDBACK YOU CLAIM YOU HAVE HAD FROM MEMBERS AND LET US ALL SEE WHAT WAS ASKED.  I doubt you can do this as like me so many MEMBERS have not seen or heard of the Feedback..... as they  say up north"Put your money where your mouth is " LET'S HAVE THE EVIDENCE....

Hi Sailorgirl,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Multiple surveys have been carried out over the years, where members thought that the Club was out-dated, stuffy, and strict. We're looking to change that perception.

If I could also take this opportunity to remind you that we do ask in the Community Guidelines that users do not post in capital letters (shout) whilst posting on Club Together.

Thank you,

Having quickly looked through the comments it would seem that the consensus is very negative. Mostly think its a waste of money and not called for. After the fiasco of the so called 'Caravanner of the Year' which made us look like fools this doesn't reflect very well on our committee who approved this.

The simple logo's carry a lot of weight in the world of marketing and advertising.  You only have to look at the power of the McDonalds and Apple logos.

Rebranding isn't a bad thing and lets face it, this campaign had got everyone talking, even bickering.  Which makes me chuckle.

Yes there will be some re-branding costs, but I'm sure that this will have been carefully considered.

We have been both caravan members and now more recently motorhome members.  The club is still heavy weighed towards caravan owners.  Motorhomes don't have the option to use multiple waste or even fresh water points thorough ought most sites, but we still like the club.  We hardly ever use the toilet facilities and so try to use more CL's these days.

Anyway nice to recognise both Caravan & Motorhomes equally.

Happy holidays.

hi Tays,

Thanks for your feedback.

The Club is constantly refreshing and improving its offering to members and customers with new sites, facilities and how we transact and communicate with members, which underpins our operations. We believe the overall cost of rebranding is proportionate with the benefits it will bring in terms of image and profile and attracting new members and customers to share in what the Club has to offer now and in the future.

We already ensure that, wherever possible, Club products and services suit all members’ needs, with specific offerings such as site facilities or training courses being tailored to the particular requirements of different sections of membership, and we're constantly working towards being more inclusive.

I cannot see the point in changing the logo significantly - many well known companies and organisations cherish their original logos  - e.g., Rolls Royce, who have kept their double 'R' symbol.

I can understand the need to change from "Caravan Club" to "Caravan and Motorhome Club", but this could have been included in the well known red pennant symbol.

Personally, I don't find the change to the new logo any more exciting than when vehicle registration plates were redesigned to include the EU star circle and the vehicle's country letters - (e.g., GB).

If the logo is so ikonic of our club why do we need an explanation video?

Hi win,

The story of our logo was to showcase our new brand values, and to show that it's not just about a name change, but a shift in our culture.

If there is to be a major change involving millions of pounds being spent on rebranding such as the logo and the name of the Club which does not serve any purpose or benefit current members, shouldn't this same council elected by members first consult all the paid up members to see if they agree with any changes as per the Club's constitution?

Sorry Surfer I must have missed the post where the club said the cost was in the millions of pounds, can you point me to it please.  I suspect this is just usual crappy rhetoric dreamed up in your mind, the actual cost is not going to be that much as much of the costs are revenue expense and would get changed regularly anyway (uniforms, letterhead etc.).  There would be some design costs for the logo and I suspect (hope) some consumer feedback etc. but in the whole scheme of things very little..

You elect the members of the board to make a decision, if they put something like this to people no doubt we would all come up with a design we liked and no one lese would.  At the end of the day the club is still the same, run by the same people with the same wardens and HO staff so why not get off your high horses and try and get change where it can be achieved such as the completing of the website issues  etc.

Sorry Michael, rebranding a multi million pound company costs very serious money and I speak from experience.

I felt the need to write something in support of the team at what I suppose I should now call the CMC.

As a child I enjoyed very many great holidays in our family caravan on CC sites.

When with my own family we moved from a tent to a motorhome I joined the club immediately.  However, I always felt that the club looked a little old-fashioned compared to others in the marketplace.  There's a surge in numbers of caravans and motorhomes being sold in the UK in recent years.  My understanding is that one of the big growth demographics is that of young families.

Let us mourn the red pennant but embrace some 2017 rebranding.  This should not mean that long-standing members are in some way valued less.  Maybe a new look and an obvious inclusiveness towards motorhomers will attract some more members to enjoy the benefits of this great club.  Would this not be a good thing?

Keep smiling RochelleCC and the rest of the team.  Leading change is not meant to be easy!

Thanks for your feedback Matt,

We're pretty excited about the change. Growth and investment will mean more benefits and opportunities, which leads to inspiring and exciting new holidays, events, rallies and more to be involved with. smile

There's no obvious signs of a shift in culture. So far I've managed to glean very few facts. Wifi across the network being one and more images of things that are near sites being another.

Maybe I'm unusual but I choose the area first based on what there is to do and choose the site second. The site is not the destination.

This is all smoke and mirrors.
