Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

further thoughts on logo.

How many members are going to spend time and money peeling off old caravan club stickers and decals from their outfits, and polishing off the marks to add the new one?

or do I buy a new re branded outfit to place the sticker on?

What a complete and utter waste of money.

One wonders what lies behind it.

Is the plan to go the way of the AA and RAC, sell off to a conglomerate?

Or is there so much floating about the management is looking for ways to spend it !

Hi JVB,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club.

So when did anyone ask me my opinion. Will it change again in the future to recognise that some sites do allow Tents? A complete waste of money and effort.

Ok guys, I have read and posted enough responses to clearly see that my fellow members are in the main extremely unhappy with this sorry mess, despite what the head is the sand responses are from club officials

The point is what can we do about it. Some posts mention organisations who have had to reverse actions implemented by their management after feedback from their members

Here are some ideas, any additions welcomed

1 Form a petition against changes. How to we do this?

2 Vote out all committee at next AGM - too far away and we may end up voting out people who were not necessarily fully committed to name and logo change. Continuity of other projects may suffer

3 Demand a retrospective vote amongst members on this major constitutional change

4 Request an extraordinary AGM to be held, with sole motion to reverse decision to change club name/logo. I for one would certainly attend

Please feel free to propose any other ideas

The simple logo's carry a lot of weight in the world of marketing and advertising.  You only have to look at the power of the McDonalds and Apple logos.

Rebranding isn't a bad thing and lets face it, this campaign had got everyone talking, even bickering.  Which makes me chuckle.

Yes there will be some re-branding costs, but I'm sure that this will have been carefully considered.

We have been both caravan members and now more recently motorhome members.  The club is still heavy weighed towards caravan owners.  Motorhomes don't have the option to use multiple waste or even fresh water points thorough ought most sites, but we still like the club.  We hardly ever use the toilet facilities and so try to use more CL's these days.

Anyway nice to recognise both Caravan & Motorhomes equally.

Happy holidays.

But just think how many more motor home points could (should?) have been put in rather than wasting it on a re-branding process that no one from the active membership as far as I can see from the conversation here asked for.

The new logo has been compared to other iconic logos such as McDonalds. There is, however, one glaring difference. We AREN'T loving' it.

An on line petition would be the way to judge how everyone feels and send the strongest message, although I'm not entirely sure how you set one up!  The Club could set one up through the magazine or the web site if they are as concerned as they should be with the feed back.

I am not hopeful that the hierarchy would listen to the members, given we weren't asked in the first place, though!

A simple form with a legally binding referendum posted out with the new annual book with a simple yes to keep the old logo/name or bin it and use the new name/logo.  we would all probably invest in a stamp.

That way all members get a chance to respond,

Not just those who spend their time on line, had I not received todays letter of welcome to my new club I honestly would not have known about it. I would have been with my camera in the great outdoors amid the glory of nature, inspired and dressed in red and green.!
