Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

IT really is depressing reading some of the comments.

IT is NOT just about a new name and logo but a new mindset and vision for the organisation.

For goodness sake the Club is not a tiny local social club that can consult everyone about everything but a multi-million pound leisure business that had its roots as a small club but now operates as a massive organisation albeit with a governance structure and ethos of a club. In reality it cannot consult 800,000 plus members. Can you imagine the cost and time needed to set about consulting every member, every local association etc.

The Club involved members as already pointed out. The Board and Committees are formed and fully comprise Members of the Club.  Let them get on with running it on our behalf.  If we don't like what we get we can always seek to stand for election.

The new name and logo bother me not a jot. What I strongly object to is the idea that a name change makes it better. Or that using 'Buzz Words' makes the club with a ell known brand identity somehow more desirable and better managed. It does not.

Lots of comments. I wonder how many of 'the Membership' were aware of any consultation on 'rebranding' and advised of the potential costs? This member like many is not happy.

As 'JVB66' posted regarding the past 'not so recent rebranding', we are going all through this again. Not good enough Committee.

This is a Members Club and I am sure most members would prefer to see their fees spent more wisely, for example - keeping summer time prices down for those who cannot make use of low season rates etc..

As for the logo - not memorable! Not necessary.

How much will this actually cost the Membership - presumably somebody carried out a cost benefit analysis?

Why am I not surprised that  the re branding is unpopular with the members represented here, "dont change anything we have always done it this way" smile

More like if its not broken don't spend £100k+ fixing it.

That might be a considerable underestimate based on a re-branding exercise I did a few years ago with another multi million pound company.

I agree - this is pure vanity imposed by "professional charity and marketing people" who have no feel for caravanning or caravaners. Disgraceful and high handed.

Well at least if the new site signs reflect the colour of the logo, they won't blend in with the greenery like they do now. By the way weren't they just replaced a few years ago?

If it ain't broke.....How much has this major rebranding exercise cost us, the members? Quoting Rochelle, "Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club" - sorry, haven't you always been investing in the Club for its future?  Everything I've read is just hand-wavy psudo-liberal claptrap.  "Inspire, simplify, pioneer, inclusive" - what's that all about and how will it change how I caravan? And don't even get me started on the logo and its colours - words fail me. Nothing will change and you've alienated many, many loyal long term members by this pointless exercise and then compounded the problem by keeping it a secret, rather than involving the membership.  Doesn't that go against everything that you've said is going to change for the better.

What a lot of nonsense laughing It's a business, we use it to enjoy our pastime be it caravan or motorhome and what logo or colour doesn't affect me at all.

A lot of the negative moaning comes from members I have never heard of, if its that important then stay awhile and support the forum, support the CL network. Probably the last time you lot surfaced was the 'Caravanner of the year' video and then returned to shadows until the next revelation.

What has happened is not that important that my Weetabix was ruined, I can still book sites and CL's, still travel overseas, the workings are still there and when its not I will move on elsewhere.

I also note there was no "vote button" on the site, or other mention of this madness occuring. Seen exactly the same thing with the CSMA becoming "Boundless".

There will of course always be some very popular sites, but a large number of pitch nights remain available on our network throughout the season. I'm sure we'll be ready for them!

Posted on 21/02/2017 16:34

Rochelle,

I think that amongst all of today's guff you have stumbled upon a truth that has been totally ignored.  People want to stay on sites in particular areas at particular times, and this is lacking.  If one wants to stay at Culloden at a weekend, for example, and it is fully booked it matters not a whit how many discounted, unused, mid-week pitches there are in Cornwall.

Our biggest criticism as a CL owner is that the communication from the club has only just filtered through to us this morning. In preparation for the coming season, like most other CL's and small caravanning sites, we have refreshed our business cards and marketing material and we only took receipt of the newly printed items last Thursday. We have been told by the club in an email that we have to change all items with the old logo and replace them ones with the new logo as soon as possible, and it is at our own expense! It would have been better for the club to have communicated before the start of this year that re-branding was afoot and to hold off on having anything printed before the change over date - today. CL's are an integral part of the Caravan Club/ Caravan and Motorhome Club offering to their members and perhaps in future CL's will be treated as such.

Once again it seems like a slap on the face of CL owners. I really feel for you. First we can't access you on the updated Web pages, so we turn to an very out of date handbook as the latest handbook has been held back for the rebrand and logo change and now to add insult to injury you are to pay for something you've just had printed and you have to bin and repay for same job different logo. Words fail me.
