Absolutely Fabulous

I can understand why this site is fully booked all year round - lovely location by the river and an easy 10 minute walk into the city. Site and facilities are superb. Wardens were very efficient at checking in the long queue of vans that all arrived at 12pm! I was a bit concerned by the motorhome racing round at well over 5mph to get the best spot and nearly knocking me over.... It's a pity so many people book a year in advance and cancel at last minute. It was the only way I could get in - pick off the cancellations one night at a time. But these are the caravan club rules unfortunately. York Rowntree though is probably the best site on the network and well worth all the effort to get a booking!

York mid November Excellent Wardens ??

Another good visit to one of our favourite sites. Particularly impressed with the streamlined check in process which has in past been problematic. A big well done to new wardens, a very efficient and friendly team. Hard to believe they've only been on site for only 5 days.

New wardens

Having just had a lovely weekend on this site ( our 4th visit) feel the club should be made aware of the actions of one of the wardens.     Upon arrival we were mer at the barrier by the warden, clipboard in hand, who was "speeding up the booking in process"    He took my membership card and duly lost it, so whilst we waited for him repeatedly searching his many pockets and dropping his spectacle case three times, he told us we were on a white peg.    We drove round twice and could only find one white peg tucked away in a corner,     I unhitched, got the legs down all the locks on only for him to come to apologise that he had told us wrong and we had to move to a blue peg!    I wasn't happy and had to pack up again and relocate.     We called in the office to pay the day after and his wife insisted we had paid! We clearly hadn't,     I learned from the lady that they had just been there only two days and had hit the ground running, so fair enough I accept we all make mistakes, but can the caravan club please ensure their wardens are trained and capable of what I consider to be a straightforward checking in process, I arrived and got Frank Spencer!

One minor negative.

Further to my previous review I have one negative comment. Would it be possible for the wardens to clean the toilets in the afternoon when the majority of the campers are off site rather than at 10.15 am when there is a maximum demand for the facilities? Campers are on holiday after all.

Excellent stay

We decided to boycott this site a few years ago due to unhelpful and difficult wardens ( one review at the time classed them as worse than the worst army drill sergeants!!) We started coming again two years ago after a change of wardens and we had an excellent time. This year the wardens were exceptionally excellent: welcoming, helpful and friendly. Above all is that they are sensible and safety minded humans not like the robotic wardens of the previous years. Many, Many thanks.

Rowntree Park Caravan Club Site

Totally different atmosphere from when we visited in February, entirely due to change of wardens. The present wardens are friendly, accommodating and pleasant; they made us feel very welcome. We had a pitch saved for us as we have a twin axle caravan, but the warden was only too happy to let us choose our own on the proviso that it was safe to get into. Top marks. We have only marked the site down by one due to the terrible internet access - which was non-existent most of the time - only managed to get on to spend out money on a year's subscription!!! This site is not in the middle of nowhere, it is right in the middle of York - come on Caravan Club - get it sorted.

The water in the washing up area not really hot enough to wash greasy items and in the showers later in the evening could have done with being a bit hotter in our opinion - we had it on full heat and could have done with a bit more. Rant over.

We really had a lovely time. It was half term and the site was full, but that was not a problem. Will definitely be going again with our granddaughter when Jorvik opens it's doors again.

Lovely Site

We loved our stay here everything about it is perfect. If I had to pick out one negative point that is that the children's play area in the park next to the site is very noisy, especially at weekends. On saying that it wouldn't stop us going again, great site fab location!
