First Caravan holiday

At the grand old age of 57 I purchased a caravan and chose this location for myself and my Wife`s first venture into Caravanning. We could not have chosen a better site for our trip. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The facilities were spotless and location could not have been better. I have a big problem now in so much as I dont think we will find anywhere to beat this location so may just have to try and book again!! Well done and six out of five stars.

One of our best stays

It is clear from the off why this site is incredibly popular. Starting off our stay with Very friendly, helpful & pleasant wardens.  Fantastic location; Right by the river for lovely walks, short walk into York Centre for shopping, etc. A beautiful well kept park next door with playground facilities for the children; geese & ducks on the pond, etc. Boat trips on the river, lots of pubs, small shops & take aways at the rear of the site via the back entrance gate. We tried the Indian and it was beautiful, highly recommend. All in all this was a fantastic weekend away, our only regret was having to leave. We were a family of 2 adults a child & a dog. We all loved it! Looking forward to going back soon.

Three days in October

We had a very enjoyable three night stay here. It is the perfect spot for exploring York, I was amazed to find a site so close to the city centre. The whole of the old city is within easy walking distance along the banks of the River Ouse. The (fantastic) National Railway Museum is also an easy walk away. The real surprise for me was the locality just to the south of the site which is accessible through a locked gate (to which you are given a key). There are some really good restaurants and shops here and a very good fish and chip shop/restaurant, highly recommended. The only downside is the difficulty in booking a space. It is always fully booked and in order to book our three nights I had to keep monitoring the booking web page. I eventually got the three nights we needed, booking each night individually as they came up. It was worth the effort though.

gem of a site

Just spent 2 nights here after booking at the beginning of the year. We were really looking forward to our stay and were not disappointed. The wardens are very friendly and helpful. Really liked the way they come to you on arrival and sort your pitch out, let you get set up then go to reception to pay, get keys etc. This must save lots of time when busy. The site is very clean and tidy. Toilet block is clean and warm. Plenty of showers with lovely hot water and large cubicles with hooks and places to put shampoo etc. The location is wonderful, just an easy 10 to 15 minute walk to city centre. This is the type of site we like, where you don't need to use to the car to get to local facilities. There are plenty of shops, pubs and takeaways a short walk away. There is a secure gate at the back of the site giving a shorter walk to a selection of shops and fast food. We will definitely return here but must remember to book early as it is clearly very popular.

Wonderful

Nothing I can say bad about this site facilities immaculate, wardens as ever helpful and site well kept. Lots of places to go and see just weather has to be good but still plenty of shopping if not. You need to book earlier for this site it is very popular.

Great Site and Wardens excellent

Can't fault this site or the Wardens they are so friendly and helpful. Great location for York City centre. The only negative is the Caravan Club WIFI on site, forget it, the system is sooooo slow its unusable, that's if you can log on.

Long awaited visit managed to get two nights with availability

Two night city break in the middle of our weeks mid term holiday. Had to book each night separately due to pitch availability but site staff sorted out week before so we didnt have to move pitch. Followed directions on web site via A64 even though coming from North. These were accurate. On leaaving wardens told us we could use A59 withoout any problem so followed signs for Harrogate. Ideal for City literally on doorstep via river bridge. Facilities large and spacious, site very quiet. Almost no grass probably because of past floods. Wardens friendly and helpful. You need to book well in advance though as nearly always full. We did city wall walk which was very easy. Great location.

City 10/10, Wardens 10/10, Facilities 10/10, Cleanliness 10/10, Pitch 10/10, Wifi 0/10. Even worse than my home internet and the engineers coming on Monday! When are you getting yours!

Great 4 Day Break

Met by pleasant helpful warden told to find a pitch and complete check-in at leisure later. Loved the pitches seperated by hedges , should be standard on all CC sites. Lovely walks by the river and the park next door, good for children as there is nothing for them on site. An easy stroll to the city which will not disappoint. No wonder the site is always booked up! (Promised the Boss I would not whinge about the Club booking system and people "block booking" with no intention of using all booked dates.)
