First Vist

This is our first vist after many years of try to get in. Excellent location with an easy walk along the river into York. Site was immaculate and wardens were fantastic and a god send when offered a tray of ice on arrival after a busy day and journey to make sure the wine was extra chilled!! Highly recommend and will be looking out for any late cancellation..

First holiday of the year

This was our first time on this site for a few years, not very different to what we remembered except the warehouse has gone & new pitches installed. Great to be able to park the car & be able to walk into the city & enjoy everything York has to offer, & it has a lot to offer. Plenty of good places to eat & attractions to suit all tastes. Friendly wardens only to willing to offer help & advice. There is an hotel being built next door but caused us no disruption or noise. Will visit again, (If we can get in) very popular site.

Walking distance from the Ci

This site is excellent if you wish to walk the short distance into the city centre to explore the history of this ancient place. This ease of access means many people wish to book a pitch resulting in its main drawback: it is busy. A stream of vans turn up at 12 but this is efficiently managed by the wardens who know their stuff. Like Cirencester the reception is on stilts to beat the occasional flood. But it all works well and despite being busy the site is quiet. Major building works have started adjacent to the site. Noise will be an issue, but when we were there it was unobtrusive. There were delays exiting the site because of large contractors' vehicles blocking the road. This is a good site and we booked nearly a week in the autumn to come back here again.

No grass

Although the site is quiet and peaceful we found that it lacked greenary, if you're a family this would not be a good site to stay, however it is within very easy walking distance of the City centre.

Excellent Stay

Hi we stayed at York Rowntree two nights It was a last minute booking as we were due to stay at Southport but couldn’t get over the M62 due to snow. We found our stay excellent, the wardens were excellent and the location couldn’t be any better. I would like to find separate recycling facilities on site, other than that Top Class. Thank you for your hard work.

Great Site

Stayed for February Half Term. Wardens did well coping with the freezing temperatures, Bins and Facilities emptied/cleaned regularly. Only a 5 minute walk to the centre, we did find it quicker to not go via the back gate when walking in. Nice site, will be back one day (when we manage to find a empty school holiday)

Snow and Ice

Snow and ice did not prevent us having a good stay at this site, along with others we froze up but not enough to spoil our stay and our heating still worked! The conditions also stopped the large drill working on the adjacent building site although we'd taken precautions by parking our van as far away from it as possible and this proved to be a good move as we were very glad to use the warm clean facilities close to us. Many thanks to the wardens for keeping things going under difficult circumstances and also booking us in for a longer stay due to the weather. York was great as usual, very quiet due to the snow, which was a bonus so no queues to see things, lots of nice food, plenty of good coffee stops. Two goes in the new Jorvik centre using a free return ticket plus an easy walk around the Castle Museum and Railway Museum even if it was a trudge in the snow to get there, we did it and enjoyed it. smile

Great site and location

Stayed here last week, February half term(17/02 to 24/02), great location, factilities clean and what you would expect from a club site. Only about 5 other families there with children which was a bit of a shame but suspect its down to got being able to book on. We've tried for the last 3 years to get on when the kids are off school and this is our first success, maybe a change to the club rules for families in school holidays required?

Wonderful site, cannot fault it.

We have visited during winter the last 2 years. The site is very clean and the staff are very helpful. It is close to York centre and the variety of pubs and restaurants are excellent, not to mention the sites to visit, walls to circumnavigate. The staff were very helpful in assisting us to get a suitable pitch for our fifth wheel and guiding us onto the pitch.
