Lovely site in an unbeatable location

This was our second visit here at Christmas and cant fault it. Great location , lovely site with exceptionally well kept facilities and nice wardens!. Regarding arriving before 12, the local council give the site a hard time if people park up along the approach road as this is quite narrow and there are plenty of places to park up outside of York and wait.

Christmas Week in York

Stayed at this fantastic location for Christmas 2017. Site Facilities Spotless at all times. Warden full of festive cheer. Several units took part in a Xmas Lights competition, which was a welcome sight on return to the site at night. The Shambles in York are delightful, especially at Xmas. A nice flat walk, straight into the heart of the City along the river. A visit to The House of The Trembling Madness is a must.

Location Location Location

Managed to get a long weekend at short notice here for Christmas shopping and sight seeing. The main reason to stay here is location, 10 minutes walk into the City with all the sights close at hand. Site is very noisy at night due to the location but that is to be expected. If only the club could introduce French Style MH Aires here to make use of all the gravel and concrete, could easily treble the number of rigs on site. Not the nicest of sites visually but you don't visit here for open fields do you... WiFi was very disappointing especially as the site is in the middle of a major City, needs to either be upgraded or ripped out as it is currently useless to say the least.

Rude wardens

I got on site on Saturday 912 2017 at 11.46 I know it's 12.00 o'clock arrive time but traffic was quite anyway the warden came out of the office told me to get off site until 12.00 0 clock this warden has got a serious attitude problem so I drove off site and parked up outside the campsite only to watch a bloke drive in with is carvan and park up and wait until 12.00 he was not told to get off site like me I think the warden does not like my vw t5 camper-van good site but the carvan club need to sort out the wardens before they loose business on the this site shame very good site for visiting York JUST (NEEDS GOOD WARDENS)

The Friendliest Wardens We Have Come Across

Arrived 1st December at 12.15 and met at the barrier by the most friendliest wardens we have ever come across. In order to expedite a smooth arrival we were asked if we could find a pitch and then call back at the office between 1.00 and 5.00 which allowed plenty of time to put on the kettle and have a sandwich prior to calling in at the office to pay before going into York to start the Christmas shopping. Whilst we were there all of the wardens were extremely pleasant and always had a smile. The toilet facilities on site were always spotless and warm. We were able to secure a pitch for December 2018 and look forward to returning then. There was a small amount of noise from the site of the new hotel which opens up in 2018 but this didn't spoil our trip.

Rude wardens

Very rude wardens We couldn’t pay when we arrived so had to come back from York at tea time to pay or we were told we would get thrown of if we didn’t come back and pay RUDE we wanted to make the most of the afternoon and evening not come back just to pay. The weekend was ruined by there attitude towards us felt so uncomfortable and a lot of others we spoke to on site to had had the same experience !!

Its all about the location

We've just returned from a short holiday at Rowntree Park. This site is all about the location, if you go out the main gate & turn left you are a 10 minute walk to York with its myriad of restaurants, bars & shops, plus all of the history that York has to offer. If you turn right out of the main gate then within 2 minutes you are in Rowntree Park which is a great park with a dog walking area, childrens play area & flower beds to enjoy. If you go out the "back pedestrian gate" then you are 2 minutes from a high street with cafes, bars & traditional bakers, green grocers & butchers. In this area there is a great fish & chip shop called the "fisherman's wife". There is also a Dominos pizza opposite the chippy. The actual club site is a little more than a large car park with pitches & a toilet block, this sounds demeaning but its not meant to be, the Club have obviously sacrificed green areas, dog walks etc to get as many pitches as possible to meet demand for this very popular site. All the wardens are friendly and helpful, one in particular was very helpful I don't know if I'm allowed to name her but i will say she had a Geordie accent. The toilet block is the usual club standard of being clean and warm. Two negatives is the lack of serviced pitches & the location of the MH service point. But each pitch does have a TV point on the bollard which is good. Overall Rowntree Park is a great club site & what it lacks is more than made up for in what it offers. We will definitely return.

Few days away.

Always worth a visit anytime of the year.Plenty of keys on wall behind wardens when paying, only to be told 14 new arrivals over the last hour hadn't come back to the office to collect keys.so choice of 3 pitches.Motorhome point not ideally placed. Toilet block warmish most of the time, lots leaves by service points, yes I know its winter, but a bit slippy in places. New hotel being built next door might be a bit noisy over then next year. City very busy.Looking forward to spring visit.
