FABULOUS WARDENS What can I say????

We stayed for two nights in preparation for B.B.C.Radio York broadcasting the breakfast show live from our van on Friday 29th July. It goes without saying that the site is everything we have come to expect from a Club Site.It is true that the amenities block is slightly dated and probably scheduled for a revamp but is kept in fine condition notwithstanding. The wardens Trevor and Pat were outstanding. How many site wardens would be happy and cheerful when rising before 5-00 to admit the broadcast team?? NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH EFFORT FOR TREVOR AND PAT. THEY ARE A CREDIT TO THE CLUB AND SHOULD BE DUE FOR A VERY LARGE MEDAL. Thank you both for making our unusual stay so enjoyable, and even finding other site users to be interviewed live on air.

Weekend at the races

Had a lovely weekend at this site. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. The staff are more than helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us.  Whilst the site isn't a walkable distance into York, there are some good taxi services that offer a discount to this site.

Good base

We stayed for a week whilst visiting York early July 2016. The site is well layed out depending where you are can be a bit of a wallk to the toilet block. It is a fair way from the nearest bus stop though, over a busy road junction as well. We do not have an issue with that but some might. The site staff are really frendly and are willing to help, I had first hand experience of this when we developed a problem with our Tow car. There are some pitches near the entrance/exit that are bordered by hedges, they do look huge! Bigger than the average pitch definately. They do ask that you do not have a BBQ there as the stable buildings are of close proximity, and are wooden construction. The Toilet block is clean and off center of the site. Dated: could do with a upgrade. Do not like the speed bumps at the entrance, i personally think that one way tip grid would be better, to slow you down when approaching the stable entrance, lots of grooves in the hump would testify to its height and possible damage to units. Really good for shopping with a mile or so large Shopping Centres, my wife loved all that, my wallet didn't . I would go back again in fact might next year. One last point when you are getting near to the site keep a good look out for the site sign its not that big.

No substitute for Rowntree Park

During warm weather farmyard smells and flies are a nuisance. Farmyard noise also an issue. At 2 miles park and ride is too far to walk so motorhome owners need to pack up and drive. Due to restrictions dogs can only enter/leave the site in a vehicle. This is partly offset by an excellent dog walk area. Great play area for kids.

Lovely stay

Lovely site, quiet and nicely laid out. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and the site is located in a great position for exploring York and surrounding area. We would definitely use this site again.

As described

One of our favourites, easy to find, clean, well laid out, ideal for visiting York (car free) and surrounding areas, ie. Lovely Beverley with it's old buildings and market. Knaresborough, Harrogate, Thirsk, and Pickering.

feels like home

Love the Beechwood Grange site.  We have been comming twice a year for a number of years and it feels like comming home.  The wardens are excellent, they were so helpful when our dog fell in and needed veterinary treatment.  The shower block is a little dated but always spotless.  The accessibility into York is by park and ride only 5 mins drive away.  Looking foward to next trip.

Excellent!

We had a bad experience on our way. A rear tyre let go on the motorway on our mobile home. The inner step was blown into pieces, plus wiring problems! When we eventually arrived, a gentleman from the site immediately lent us a double step and measured and cut a piece of wood to fit and screwed it into place. Thank you. The site was busy but spotless. There were plenty of children, but no noise! We will certainly be making a return visit and would recommend the site.

York Stop off.

We picked Beachwood Grange in York as our last stop on our way home from a trip to Scotland. very pleasant and clean site the usual Caravan Club standard. No traffic noise and a lovely drive through a stud with horses on both sides. we went into York on the park and ride and spent the day there for £2.80. and the Park and ride was only 1.5 miles from the camp. would definitely stay again.

A VERY GOOD SITE

Noise: Some audible road noise during the day, also occasional military aircraft noise. Both were noticeable, but neither were particularly intrusive. Both were absent from evening until early morning. WiFi / Internet: Terrible! When lots of people were online it was impossible to log on. During the night and sometimes during the day when most people were away from the site it worked, but even then was very slow. In all other respects, the site was typical Club high standard. Public Transport: 5 or 6 minute straightforward drive to Monks Cross where the Park & Ride starts. Lots and lots of parking there – and a huge Retail Park adjacent (includes Aldi; M&S; Next; Prezzo; Asda and…and….and!). Collect a disc at the P&R entry barrier. Bus driver validates the disk for free parking. Concessionary bus pass accepted from 9am onwards – total Concession charge to park all day, bus to York City centre and return to Monks Cross was £1 per head. Busses run very frequently until about 9.30pm. Bus from York to Leeds Centre (Bus & Coach Station) run every 30 mins during the day from York City centre (Stonebow stop) and from York Rail Station – Concession cards valid 9.30am onwards. Journey time with “Zap Bus to Leeds” typically 50 mins. Coastliner service goes same place, but via many deviations into villages along the route and therefore takes much longer. Things to do: Lots – obviously a very personal preference, but we enjoyed the Leeds – Settle – Carlisle railway as far as Appleby. For a year or so, whilst a landslip beyond Appleby is repaired, there is a special offer of a “Leeds-Carlisle Rover” for £15 a head, instead of the normal £27 or so. We used the 9am first concession P&R from the caravan site, the Zap bus at 9.30am to Leeds and then the 10.50 train to Appleby. A very pretty train trip. York Centre Club Site, or Beechwood? City is quiet and walk able to city centre, but we felt it was a bit crowded and lacked character. Beechwood is subject to a bit of noise as commented above, but we thought it a nicer site and getting to York city didn’t take any longer from Beechwood than be walking from
