Another great holiday

Just come back from a week here. Great site, good clean facilities. Fantastic wardens especially Trevor who will help you with any problems. Lots of good places to visit. Just a pity the services on the M1 are so caravan unfriendly. Still well worth that aggro for a great week with great weather.

Convenient

This site is nice and tidy, facilities clean but dated, wardens friendly. Ideal for a city break at York as its just 1.5 miles away from the Park and Ride. There's an excellent array of shops by the side of the P&R, including plenty of eating houses, M&S etc.

Beechwood Grange - What's not to like

Lovely, very well maintained and quiet site very close to York with a reasonably good bus service into the city. A bit of a walk to the stop though. Good sized pitches. We enjoyed our short stay there. Our satnav wanted to take us up the A1237 on the last roundabout. Presumably to the centre of the post code. Follow the instructions in the book - third exit.

Just a couple of days

I agree with the last review that this must be a premier site due to the staffing who go out of their way to ensure members are well looked after. It is so nice to have wardens who enjoy the job, are interested in the individual and friendly. I think you should use them to train others but don't take them off site. The facilities and cleanliness are first class and are very well maintained. We are returning in December for a few more days due to the service we received.

Lovely Site

This is one of the nicest CC sites we've stayed on. The wardens are very friendly, the toilets and showers spotless and the site feels spaced- out and private. I loved the play facilities for children - how many places actually provide a large empty field nowadays? Wonderful for running round, badminton and chase. A good old fashioned caravan holiday with great access to York, Whitby, Scarborough and an extensive retail park nearby. Thank you Beechwood for a lovely last week of the summer hols.

Lovely Site

We have been to Beechwood Grange many times and the site is always good, the Wardens do a great job the grass is always neat and tidy and the facilities are very clean even though it was Bank Holiday. Earlier in the year we were at a site in the Coltswolds and the toilet blocks were cleaned in the afternoon, what a great idea, everyone on the site said they much preferred it, I wonder if other sites will do the same .........

Worth staying for a few days

At first we were almost bombarded by rules - but they were necessary due to the proximity of the site to a racing stud. Weird set-up in the ladies washroom, but it was fine. Phil didn't fancy doing the washing up because it meant apparently walking into the Ladies!! Site organised and maintained very well, we especially loved the two playing fields - one for children and one for dogs! Wi-Fi didn't work too well, but not much of a problem as we were only staying one night. Would definitely come again as a base for visiting York and the surrounding countryside.

First visit

Friendly staff, good size of pitch, everyone on site helpful. Short distance to York and other attractions.

Could do with updating

This site suffers from noise from 2 major roads but is kept clean and tidy by the wardens who with the exception of one grumpy one were very friendly and helpful. The facilities block was generally very clean despite it being a busy bank holiday, it would however benefit from updating. Overall the site was user friendly with a good children's play area but the 5mph speed limit needs to be imposed on all forms of transport including bikes and electric scooters.

Could be better

Firstly this is a pleasant enough site, but it lacks character in that it isn't landscaped, so it's a bit like a car park with a few trees. Unfortunately there are also a few other problems: 1. When we arrived there was one very harassed warden on duty, and we did not get the usual Caravan Club welcome or enquiry of how our journey had been. 2. The Toilet block was not very clean and had an unpleasant odour. 3 We were told that the only space available was a non barbecue space. There was no offer of the space costing any less, I think the club should consider this. 4. One of the alley ways to the water facilities was being fitted with gates during our stay. I cannot understand why. This makes it very difficult when using Aqua Roll/Waste Master etc. It is to stop bikes and scooters, but there was originally a slalom system in place which seemed to work much better. 5, This is a very busy and consequently quite a noisy site. I think quite a few people use it as a stop off when travelling long distance, so it's not very peaceful. 6. The access to the site is very easy, but the roads immediately outside get very busy and we were stuck in the same jam nearly every day of our holiday. The Good Points: 1. Very handy for York and the Park and Ride at Monks Cross. 2. A good football field for the children, as well as a good park. More sites should offer these facilities. Would we stay again? Probably yes, but maybe not for two weeks.
