Lovely site

Wardens Pat and Trevor were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Site and toilet blocks were immaculately clean although a little dated. Wardens were busy all day keeping the site in good order. Will definitely go again in the near future.

Fab again

Well we visited Beechwood again for roughly the 7th time and we still love it. Beautifully clean, great wardens, ideal base for visiting York itself and many beautiful villages that surround the area. We will be back again soon

one of our regular sites

Visit June 2016. We use the site regularly to visit family but rate it as one of the best. A large flat site with well spaced pitches and friendly helpful wardens. Very convenient for touring the area as just of the A54 on edge of city. Park and ride just down road with large shopping centre and two supermarkets with cheap fuel there. Only downside is wi-fi is poor and gives up at times. Better option than Rowntree if touring although if you just want to visit the city centre, Rowntree probably wins for convenience.

Lovely site

First time on this site and was impressed. Wardens were very helpful, shower block slightly dated but spotless. A sign did appear on the roundabout during our stay which is a great help . Fantastic dog walk but it's a pity that dogs can't be walked down the lane leading to the site. Some traffic noise from the A64 didn't bother me but it woke my husband a couple of times. Easy to get into York , in fact in my opinion the actual site is better than Rowntree the pitches are spacious and have grass .

Further from York

A five night stay. Slightly harder to locate than would like with poor signage on the roundabout, which I understand has meant a fair few people missing the entry road. The road along to the park would benefit from resurfacing as there are a myriad of potholes Pleasant enough reception staff. Did appreciate the map for the site and being given the opportunity to drive round the site to choose our own pitch. Large well manicured grounds with tall hedging bordering the site offering privacy and wind protection in inclement weather. The layout is traditional and it seemed most of the pitches, hard standing and grass, were large enough to easily accommodate car, tent and awning side by side. There is only one toilet block which never seemed busy when I visited, it included the usual with toilet stalls and separate shower and wash hand basin cubicles. My one criticism of the fasilities would be waist water flowing from showers flows down a single channel and into all of the cubicles lower down. Nevertheless the block is clean well heated. We used the landry while here and found it good value, a timer showing time remaining on a cycle would save several waisted trips. Thank you also to the recommended repair man, he was pleasant and helpful giving advice and reassurance over the telephone.

Great visit, thanks..

Hi, we stayed at this site 19- 22 June. A little uncertain at first on the approach to the site as the sat nav was directing is towards a no through road from an island but a phone call later to the site confirmed the sat nav was correct and it was the local council preventing signs being erected that was the issue. The site is lovely, spacious, loads of play space for children. The tree contractors were on site but not an issue. To visit York by foot and public transport not a problem at all, ask at reception for directions but 20 minute walk takes you to the us stop at Hope GRove Moorlyn where you can get the 840,843 or 845 for £6.00 return. Would certainly recommend and return if in the area. Nearest gym if that's for you is Ebor fitness via payasugym.com. Functional but does the job.

First time break

Excellent experience, the wardens couldn't have been more helpful. Great facilities and great info on the local attractions. Nice and quiet location although necessary tree trimming was being carried out when we were there they started work at a reasonable time and had left by late afternoon so didn't disturb the evening. Would recommend to all and would stay again

Great Location

This site is in a great location and easy to get too , but as mentioned before the last island can be confusing due to traffic lights.Wardens were very friendly and kept the site in tip top condition. The Park and Ride at Monks Cross is only five minutes by car and a very cheap way to get in to York, if you happen to have a bus pass , you will also find the shops at Monks Cross. Will return to this site
