Somewhat disapointed

We only just managed to get a pitch for a few days, but it happened to be in front of the toilet block, and totally in the shade all day, despite the good sunny weather. The trees blocking the sun need to urgently have at least 15 feet removed to let the sun shine through. This would make absolutely no difference to the amount of trees, nor affect the shape unduly. We were also woken around 7am ish by the awful screaming noise made by the gas boiler flue. This was also prevalent during the high demand for showers. If we return, then the pitch must be different. We were offered an alternative pitch but again, the hight, and amount of trees prevented me from getting a satellite signal. No doubt I should have booked much earlier, but my work prevents me from doing this.

Yorkshire treat

Our first time in Yorkshire was made all the better by top class wardens who made you feel at home. The site is very nice and in a great spot to explore the surrounding countryside at whatever pace suits you. The only negative is the location of the toilet block, this could prove to be a bit of a trek depending on where you decide to set up. Overall a great site.

A lovely safe and happy site

My wife and I have been members of the Caravan Club for many years most of time we have are grandchildren with us when stopping on club sites, we have read reviews of people criticizing the Caravan club for being very strict and regimented where children are concerned we have experienced this on some sites but never at Beech Wood Grange. We have been bringing our grandchildren to Beech Wood for the last 10 years a lovey safe and happy site the wardens are most understanding especially Pat & Trevor who have grandchildren of their own a lovey warm and friendly couple, but on a recent visit to the site we encountered wardens that where less than understanding and not as friendly, we were later told by friends who had be on the site with us that the couple we had encountered where helping on the site we hope that is the case it would be a shame to spoil the site by overzealous wardens .

Peak time of year

The site only had a choice of 3 pitches left and a corner one was perfect for us. Glad we had leveling ramps with us. Lots of children on bikes and scooters and a super fenced play area. Site quiet nice and early. Dog walk clean, well kept and fenced. We had good TV reception. Wifi hopeless. Dogs not permitted on lane in and out but there would be no place to go with them anyway as the site is near main roads. The morning traffic was well backed up so don't expect to get away swiftly.

Excellent site for families

A wonderful site exceptionally maintained by the wardens. A large dog walk area, an adventure playground for children and a large playground with football pitch. It was a great pleasure to see children playing all sorts of games in this area till late in the evening. It was also great to see children enjoying themselves without the need of a phone. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. Park & Ride into the city is a short drive away. The Railway Museum is worth a visit for those interested. Definitely recommended as a family friendly site.

Hidden Gem

This was our first visit to the site and we will be returning to this hidden gem. Hidden in that as previous reviews have said better signage is needed on the roundabout. A gem of a site, well run by very pleasant wardens who work very hard to keep the whole site clean and tidy. There are lots of wonderful place to go and visit, we had a fantastic day at Fountains Abbey, the Railway museum and we even made the trip up to Whitby.

Arrived at the site and received a warm welcome from reception. Sat Nav is no good for this site when you get within 0.5 miles Use google maps This site is worth every penny with lovely pitches.Well maintained site and facilities. Site is great for visiting all of north yorkshire and only an hour from Whitby. Dog walk is spot on.

Nice Stay near York

Overall quite pleased with site and only have one complaint in that the sign directing people to the site is not positioned very well as cars and other vehicles obstruct the sign when they are at the exit from site waiting for lights to change. We missed it twice and went down two different roads until I decided to turn back. My suggestion is to relocate the sign to the opposite side of the road where it will not become obstructed by vehicles waiting to exit site access road. Great site location for the Park & Ride into York and also the major shopping centres - in reality we need not have brought food and drinks with us as it was all available nearby. As it was the first week of the school holidays there were lots of children on bikes and running around the roads on site. Obviously at a young age they are not aware of potential problems with traffic and hence we had to drive extra carefully to make sure we didn't knock any of them off their bikes. Don't have a problem with this but please parents tell your kids to be aware of moving traffic. There were a couple of minor issues in that warden didn't tell us that to exit the automatic barrier to pull right over to the right side for the automatic barrier sensor to activate .....first time we were standing for about two minutes waiting so went to reception and were told to pull over to right....a minor issue really! I agree with another review in that the road speed ramps are a bit OTT. All in a pleasant stay.
