Sunshine in York

Very nice sites, the spotless classic toilet block, perfect size pitch, large playing field and swing park and essential food to buy all on site. Toby Grill on main York ring road 15 minutes walks, but you will have to add another 15 minutes onto that to get to the bus stop to get public transport into York ?? ok walking to the bus,but when you have been site seeing and walking all day,it's along walk home, but we did have great weather. PS think that CC site are over changing us to use washing machine and tumble dryer.

A great site for visiting York

We stayed on this site for a few days with our granddaughter with a view to spend our days in York. From this point of view this was perfect with the Monks Cross park and ride a 4 minute drive away. The site is spotlessly clean and generally well looked after. The provision of both a play ground and playing field are a bonus for families. On the down side, the traffic noise from the adjacent A64 and York northern bypass is insistent and stars up before 6am and remains a nuisance until after 11pm. Local access to the site is excellent with wide approach roads and excellent signage(as long as you don't get confused by all the non-club signs to other local sites!). However, the main road approaches are very busy and the final few miles can take a very long time with queuing traffic at every junction and roundabout. Overall a well run site giving excellent access to York and the surrounding area, but allow a good chunk of extra time for your journey towards the site and away from it.

Good location

Stayed mid July to beginning August. Easy route but pleased we used google maps before journey so we didn't miss site entrance lane off busy roundabout. Site lovely and peaceful during the day and excellent easy routes for sightseeing - especially park and ride. Toilet block clean except for how some people had left them - this was not the wardens fault, they worked hard in this area as well as the grounds. Evenings were noisy due to unsupervised children racing around the site and in between the cars and caravans on bikes, which a number of people around us were not happy about. We were pitched far enough away from the excellent play area for this to supposedly not affect us but it did. Children's scooters and bikes were left lying in road and all-around toilet block causing obstruction to Pedestrians as well as cars. Have nothing against children having fun but seems they have no safety sense thinking the roads are their race track as the site is secure. Worryingly we saw a number of near accidents which were not car drivers fault, especially as the speed limit was usually adhered to. Would stay here again but probably not during school holidays if possible, due to the number of near misses some children had

Lovely spacious site - definite feel good factor!

We have just spent six days at Beechwood Grange with our Grandsons (11 and 16) joining us for part of the time. We brought them here two years ago and they requested a return visit. The Wardens are exceptionally hardworking and friendly. Lovely atmosphere on the site, with something for everyone in the vicinity. In York, we visited The National Railway Museum, Clifford's Tower, and walked the walls. Another day was spent at the excellent York Maze. The space on the site was ideal for enjoyable outdoor games - we were very lucky with the weather! Monks Cross Shopping Centre is very handy, and the nearby Park and Ride into York is a real bonus. Would return.

Location + and -

Whilst the location is great for visiting York and the surroundings, its proximity to the ring road does make it noisy for much of the time. No problem finding it and the site is well kept. The facilities were clean and the site was tidy. Can't really say how good it might be for families as I didn;t have one with me. Would I go again? Probably if I really needed to be in the area.

Somewhat disapointed

We only just managed to get a pitch for a few days, but it happened to be in front of the toilet block, and totally in the shade all day, despite the good sunny weather. The trees blocking the sun need to urgently have at least 15 feet removed to let the sun shine through. This would make absolutely no difference to the amount of trees, nor affect the shape unduly. We were also woken around 7am ish by the awful screaming noise made by the gas boiler flue. This was also prevalent during the high demand for showers. If we return, then the pitch must be different. We were offered an alternative pitch but again, the hight, and amount of trees prevented me from getting a satellite signal. No doubt I should have booked much earlier, but my work prevents me from doing this.

Yorkshire treat

Our first time in Yorkshire was made all the better by top class wardens who made you feel at home. The site is very nice and in a great spot to explore the surrounding countryside at whatever pace suits you. The only negative is the location of the toilet block, this could prove to be a bit of a trek depending on where you decide to set up. Overall a great site.
