First class wardens a example for others to follow.

Most of the points which we would make have already been covered so I wont bore you with them. We have been caravan club members since 2012, a short time compared to many of our fellow members, and in that time we have stayed at many club sites on the network. I just wanted to say that the wardens at Beechwood Grange were the best that we have ever met. They were approachable and helpful and seemed to welcome all the members equally. We have small children and we participated in a short treasure hunt which has been created on the site for "tourer explorers". The wardens were encouraging them along the way and giving them a gentle pointer in the right direction. They made us feel very welcome and valued as a club members. The staff work hard to keen the ageing facilities immaculate and all credit to them for that. Many wardens would do well to learn from the wardens at Beechwood Grange.

Excellent site

We visit regularly and are never disappointed. A good flat site with easy access from the main road with a good variety of pitch types all laid out in a pleasant manner. Good facilities with supermarkets and cheap fuel just down the road next to Park and Ride service. If you want to tour the area then this is a far easier site to work from than Rowntree although that may be better if you just want to visit York itself. The approach road though needs some attention but that is my only criticism. The large trees at one corner of the site where you exit have been removed which has altered the feel if that area which is now very open.

School holiday getaway

Overall this is a pleasant site in an ideal location, however the toilet/shower block is in need of an upgrade and I did not feel it was cleaned to the same standards as other sites. There is only 6 showers and gets very busy, so be prepared to queue every morning. Although we enjoyed our stay it is not a site we will be returning to, much prefer Rountree park site. Wardens very helpful and polite.

Young and Old

Excellent site , run by very good wardens. The site is very clean and is ideal for visits to York and the East coast locations. However both Young and Old member drivers are 'sign blind' once again driving anywhere between 15-30 mph, after all the publicity about 5 mph and signs on the site , speed doesn't seem to matter to some people , be they Young or Old !! So come on , if its you're child or animal that gets knocked down hard luck, they can speed if they want!! This site needs more speed humps to deter speeding . Overall will visit the site again and again. .

Great site

Great site with excellent facilities. If you have a car the nearby Park & Ride is ideal to get in and out of York. We have a Motorhome so are dependant on local transport, unfortunately the bus service to the site is not well located or regular, but a taxi into York centre is a flat rate of £9. The wardens are very helpful and the pitches very generous and no mater where you pitch you are near the facility block. For anyone wanting to use this site as a base to explore North Yorkshire it is an excellent location.

Beechwood Grange - great, as always!

This is a really nice, unbelievably tranquil site. Hard to believe you are so close to major roads and shops. The Wardens are top notch. Helpful, friendly and approachable, and keep the site looking lovely. The Park and Ride into York is so accessible. We did a trip to Farndale and enjoyed the daffodil walk, and it took only fifty minutes to get across to Filey for a super day out. We didn't apply our factor 30 and got sunburned faces, first week in April East Coast!! So much to see in this area. Will return.

A good all round site and location.

We chose this site specifically to meet relatives and friends in the area. The site wardens were extremely pleasant and very helpful and are keeping the whole site in excellent condition. A credit to the caravan club. A pity some of the CC members cannot be more polite.

First time out for 15 years!

Bought the caravan a month ago, having sold our last one 15 years when the kids grew up and their teenage demands became too stressful! Alas, the benefits of an 'empty nest' meant, after 2-3 years deliberation, that we bought a new (to us) 2004 Abbey Cardinal 2 berth. We picked Beechwood as we know York very well and if we forgot anything it wasn't too far to pop back home to Beverley. Thankfully, we hadn't forgotten anything major, and though we kept adding to a list to bring next time out, we survived.. The site was absolutely faultless. Fantastic welcome, choice of pitches, well laid out, easy to find (though we knew where it was). Spotless site and the toilet block was fantastic. Not sure if things have moved on since 2002 but the showers were so powerful, there was plenty of them. Washing cubicles aplenty etc. I saw some people had said they were 'tired'.. well, they look perfect to us, although I accept that I don't have anything recent to compare them with. One final thing I'd like to say. I hope the couple from Chesterfield read this who arrived just before us. I panicked a little when finding a pitch, how was I going to get the van on etc. Thankfully, the chap suggested I just unhook and push into position and between us we did. Then he came across a couple of times, as he was setting up his own van, and offered some great suggestions.. Finally, when I decided to put the porch awning up that the previous owner sold me (they were giving up caravanning) it must've been obvious that I was struggling. Thankfully, my neighbour came to the rescue again and it was effectively up in ten minutes! Anyway, a big thank you to him, and to the wardens who made our first ever visit a huge success. All other sites have a lot to live up to. Excellent weekend.

Peaceful and well cared-for site

This site is so easy to get to; no winding country lanes or dirt tracks to negotiate. It is just a few hundred yards off a roundabout on the dual carriageway. If you have a car to help you get to nearby attractions this place is great. The park and ride at monks cross is great for getting into York centre and the Monks Cross shopping centre has a great M&S Food Hall and a John Lewis! The pitches are flat and clean and the site is well equipped with service points. The toilet blocks could do with an update but everything was spotlessly clean and there was no shortage of hot water. The wardens are very helpful and friendly. I was in reception when a first-timer arrived with his caravan. He had never been out with his outfit before and the wardens were very keen to offer help in getting him safely set-up if he ran into any difficulty.

Good site, but need a car

Have stayed on this site many times as it is convenient for visiting some of our family. Facilities are getting tired but the wardens keep them as clean as they can. The wardens are very friendly and have a difficult job to do unfortunately made harder by some dog owners such as the one we saw who appeared at her caravan door in her nightie with two dogs on extended leads to allow them to do their business on the pitch to save her taking them to the dog walk. This is a practice that all too many dog owners seem to think is acceptable, we are charged for children and for extra cars, but dogs are free despite the fact that dog walks are provided and maintained. This is a problem on sites and appears to be getting worse. Responsible Dog lovers
