Lovely site

Just back from a New Year break. Lovely site, really clean, friendly wardens, handy for the Monks Cross park and ride which has dedicated parking for motorhomes too. Will visit again as would be a good base for exploring the east coast etc.

Excelllent facilities

First time visit to this site and were very pleased with the facilities offered. The site and toilet and shower facilities were top notch and the wardens kept everything clean and tidy. It is very handy for the local shopping centre, supermarkets and park and ride into York. We will definitely return.

Short Break

Enjoyed our short break at this site. The toilet facitilies are the best we have ever used and the site is lovely and tidy with a dog walk where the dogs can run off lead. Ideally placed for the Monks Cross Park and Ride for a visit to York. There is some road noise but does go quiet at night. Once again though I have to say that speeding was a problem both with cars and cars with caravans. It is time something was done about this by the Caravan Club. We have visited numerous sites and spoken to other people about this problem and everyone we spoke to including Wardens said speeding is an ongoing problem. Having said that we enjoyed our stay and will return.

First time at Beechwood Grange

We thought we would try the site following its recent multi thousand pound upgrade. The site was spotless and the toilet/shower block was modern and gleaming. There are some open views at the rear of the site. We were surprised that you could hardly hear the noise from the York bypass as the site is so close. Thankyou to the wardens for keeping it like this and also trying to help us out with the Wi Fi issues. However if you visit this site there are a few things that you should be aware of: The entrance to the site is a small road off a VERY busy York bypass A64/A1237 roundabout. Blink and you will miss it. The WiFi is graded as bronze where in fact it is non-existent. If you have business on-line to do or e mails to send think about another way of connecting (4G is OK on site) If you have a dog you cannot walk it down the access road (this is the only access to the site) so if you want to catch a bus and take your dog you have to put the dog in the car drive down the access road and park on the old A64, then walk with your dog! We left at 11.45 (thinking departure time was 12 mid-day) and were told in no uncertain terms that we should have been off site by11.15am. I know now that it says that in the guidebook but please can there be a chalkboard outside the wardens office with the departure time on it to warn people who don't read the small print in the members guidebook. Thanks

York in early October 2018

What a spanking new site! The facilities are as spotless as you'd expect and the Wardens very nice and very helpful. They were clearly proud of the site and deservedly so. We were only there 2 nights, just to get a flavour of York, and despite being near the Main road it was suprisingly quiet. There's a very helpful Information hut which made it easy to plan our trip into York within our limited timescale. We opted for the Park and Ride about 5 mins away and were able to use our bus passes! It's also in the centre of the shopping outlets so there are lots of good shopping facilities very close. We'd happily go back there for a longer time and get to know more of the sights in the area.

October half term stay

This is a lovely well kept site, the wash facilities have been beautifully refurbished and the showers are plentiful. Our pitch was spacious, in the sunshine n close to the park and facilities. The kids loved the park and there was also a field to play on. York was a short drive and we parked in the national railway Museum car park which is £10 for the day. We visited the museum, York chocolate story, and enjoyed the street entertainment. We also visited piglets adventure farm which was fab for the kids and slightly cheaper than York maze. Just be aware that sat nav does not like the postcode, it takes you to the right round about but doesn’t take you off on the right turning but there is a sign for the site at the turn off. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Quick stop off

Stayed here for one night as a stop off on our way home from the coast. Site was almost full but facilities well able to cope. We were bothered by the road noise being in a pop top campervan which would put us off staying here again. Decent sized dog walk which was necessary as that is the only place they can be walked without driving off site. Good torch needed though when using it at night! Lovely welcome from warden. Best one we’ve ever had. He even showed us to our pitch. Little touches like that make such a difference on whether a site is viewed positively so thank you.

Wardens

At this minute we are in our motorhome at Beachwood Grange we have been coming to Beachwood with our grandchildren for many years, the reason we are here is that we found out Pat & Trevor the site wardens are leaving in January have just come away from a Halloween party they had organized as always it was a great hit with children on the site both Pat & Trevor dressed in costumes, We had to come to express are gratitude for the happy times our grandchildren have had at Beachwood my grandchildren are now 15 and 13 they tell me the best memories they have are of holidays at Beachwood my granddaughter who is 15 still keeps in touch with friends she made over the years both have fond memories of Pat & Trevor My wife and I have watched Pat & Trevor over the years working together giving a 100% to their job there was no demarcation Pat alongside Trevor cutting the grass but they always made time to stop and talk sometimes a cup of tea. I have no idea how the Caravan Club will find replacements with the same commitment as these lovey people. Gina & Mick Henderson

Fantastic site

We have just returned for a 4 night stay at Beechwood Grange, the refurbished site is clean and tidy and the wardens were friendly and helpful. The new shower block is excellent with plenty of facilities, nice to see 5 hangers in each shower cubicle. We used the Monks Cross park and ride to commute in to York which was £3.10 return for adults and children under 16 free with paying adult. Monks Cross also has plenty of shops and places to eat, we ate at The Pear Tree farm pub which had calvary and a menu pick from. Eden Camp is a short drive away and well worth a visit. A site that we will definitely return to.

Excellent

A return stay at Beechwood after a few years. Only way to describe this recently refurbished site is EXCELLENT. A great new toilet block with larger cubicles and more of them, than previous block.Nice large pitches. Probably the friendliest wardens we have ever encountered who keep the site to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness. Looking for a great fish supper then head down the A64 towards Scarborough for about five miles to Thomson's fish restaurant, mm mm delicious.
