Beechwood Grange took us in when our original site (Rowntree) was closed due to flooding. The staff were extremely helpful despite being really busy with loads of evacuees from the floods in York. The shower block was the best we've come across.Buses into York were not very frequent but there are more when the spring service starts in March.
Very Good Site, Excellent Staff
This was our first time at Beechwood Grange, we stayed for 4 nights Jan to Feb 2020. Easy to get to (although adjacent main roads do create some traffic noise on site) and well located for exploring around York - some of the other sites in Yorkshire might be better if you want to spend much time in the Dales or the North York Moors. The site is well laid out with good sized pitches, there is an excellent new toilet block and a good play area. The large dog field is well enclosed and dogs can be let off lead there which compensates for not being able to walk dogs off-site down the access road (due to the proximity of the stud farm and livestock). The two wardens on duty during our stay were excellent - friendly, efficient, helpful and hard working - and the whole site is very well kept. We would definitely recommend for exploring in this area.

Happy New Year 2020
We have stayed at Beechwood many times over the years and are very impressed with the new shower/toilet block. The site had a power cut on New Years eve but this did not spoil our evening as wardens/club had already provided food and refreshments before the power went off and temporary lighting was available for the reception area, it was well attended by members. We have booked again for next New Year so this must be a good recommendation.

Excellent But---
Another excellent stay over the Christmas period, everything up to scratch as usual but-- I have to say the power cut on New Years Eve (5 1/2 hours) was to say the least a bit inconvenient, we all thought this was down to a problem elsewhere but after reading some of the other reviews this seems to be an on-going problem, come on CMC in this day and age and after all the upgrades on the site it's no good having a state of the art toilet block that you can't use when it goes dark. Still it has to be said the wardens do a great job, and we still had a great time, and a New Years Eve we won't forget for some time.
9/10
Almost everything that can be said about this site has been...in previous reviews....I have , however, marked one point off excellent for two reasons..1) The traffic calming humps are very severe and can cause damage to caravans and more importantly they don't work.... either on this site or any other on the network..a waste of money. 2) Disappointed that no service pitches were installed when the site was redeveloped earlier this year...this meant I had to fetch water and empty grey waste!! obviously the installation of a dog wash was more important !! and they go free !!
Great alternative
Whilst Rowntree Park has great advantages for walking into York, don’t be put off from using Beechwood, close to lots of shops, and easy access to the park and ride with spaces for Motorhomes. The site is well maintained with spacious pitches and the facilities are of the latest style within the club and superb. Love the way the wardens use a trolley to pull round the site for emptying bins and general maintenance, so no noises tractors where not necessary. The wardens do a great job, but unfortunately the site suffers from ‘boy racers’ like so many others, we were barged off the road by a 70+ year old racing with his van to get to a pitch. When are the club going to get tough with these idiots! Other than that, we had a great weekend but with temperatures around -3c and a full site, the site electric supply seemed to suffer with our fridge struggling to run on electric and needing to switch over to gas. A Google search suggested low voltage supply could cause this, fridge is now working fine again on a different site.
Excellent site.
We found the wardens at this site very cheerful and extremely helpful and hard working.
Unfortunately the electricity went off on a third of the site ( late evening) the wardens identified and sorted the problem so the electricity was reinstated quite quickly.
The washrooms are new and spacious and clean.
York is a great place to visit the park and ride is at Monks Cross ( not far away).
Follow the directions in the book as you can easily miss the sign for the site.

Fantastic site and very friendly and helpful staff
The site was very clean and the facilities were very clean and new. The site was in a good location to York and there was a big shopping centre close by. When we arrived our satellite needed and update and they kindly let us borrow their laptop to do it.
Will certainly be returning.

Good site
A recently refurbished site with some very roomy pitches. Facilities are as one expects. Being on the city outskirts you may have to go round the ring roads but this was not too bad. A mile away there are supermarkets and shopping malls and more importantly the park and ride which I recommend if going into York There is a little road noise but only the most pernickety and over fussy would complain about it. My chief complaint is the road humps which I hate and the one at the site entrance is too vicious and really needs softening! Access can be fiddly as off one of two adjacent roundabouts so you need to keep your wits about you especially with van in tow. The dog exercise field is excellent and site should be congratulated on this.
