We found the wardens at this site very cheerful and extremely helpful and hard working.
Unfortunately the electricity went off on a third of the site ( late evening) the wardens identified and sorted the problem so the electricity was reinstated quite quickly.
The washrooms are new and spacious and clean.
York is a great place to visit the park and ride is at Monks Cross ( not far away).
Follow the directions in the book as you can easily miss the sign for the site.
The site was very clean and the facilities were very clean and new. The site was in a good location to York and there was a big shopping centre close by. When we arrived our satellite needed and update and they kindly let us borrow their laptop to do it.
Will certainly be returning.
A recently refurbished site with some very roomy pitches. Facilities are as one expects. Being on the city outskirts you may have to go round the ring roads but this was not too bad. A mile away there are supermarkets and shopping malls and more importantly the park and ride which I recommend if going into York There is a little road noise but only the most pernickety and over fussy would complain about it. My chief complaint is the road humps which I hate and the one at the site entrance is too vicious and really needs softening! Access can be fiddly as off one of two adjacent roundabouts so you need to keep your wits about you especially with van in tow. The dog exercise field is excellent and site should be congratulated on this.
Our second visit this year and can only echo thoughts of others. A large flat site laid out less regimented than many in rural setting. The staff were pleasant and worked hard to keep the site tidy and their display of flowers would be hard to beat. For us unless you simply want to walk into York city centre this is the site to choose for the area. Shops would be quite a walk but there are Supermarkets and a large choice of other shops plus cheap fuel and the park and ride within two miles. The park and ride has spaces for motorhomes which helps those who need this. The site is generally easy to reach, but on a sunny Saturday morning the A64 can jam so that time might be best avoided.
First time at this site but not our last. The site is excellent easy to find and close to York city, and park and ride, shops etc. The facilities were first class and kept very clean. The site too was maintained to a very high standard. Large and spacious pitches. Small shop on site selling just a few essentials but no local shop within walking distance meant a trip to the shops in the car, which were not too far. The roads around the site were quite busy but did not affect our holiday too much, a little traffic noice late at night but again not enough to be too disruptive. Close to many local attractions and small villages etc. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and deserved a lot of credit and thanks for their hard work and excellent customer service. We had an issue with our car and although it was August bank holiday, with the site full, they were able to accommodate an extended stay on site if required, fortunately this was not necessary but their offer was extremely welcomed. We plan on a further visit to this site in the near future.
Stayed many times but this was first time since new facilities were built. Although bank holiday weekend there was never a queue for the showers etc. Usual friendly greeting from wardens on arrival and they kept the site very clean and tidy.
One of my favourite sites.
Really easy to get to and fantastic location for visiting York which has numerous park and ride car parks but despite being down the road from one you can’t safely walk to it but there is space to park cvs and motor homes. Fantastic new toilet block, really, really friendly staff. Lovely site good pitches great for children to play, football pitch was used every day by our boys rain or shine! If we lived nearer we’d be back regularly......
We have just returned home from an extended 15 night stay at this wonderful site. We are regular visitors to Beechwood Grange as we have relatives who live close and we always spend time with them whilst there.
As usual, the site is in great condition and the flower displays are beautiful. The wardens are a credit to the club - friendly, professional, hard-working and exhibit the best customer service.
Although the site was busy, we still found it very relaxing and the dog walk is excellent which is always a prime consideration for us as we have one very elderly dog and one very young one.
We can't wait to return and hope to soon, perhaps in September or October.
