Another great break.

I love this sites position. Nice to see improved wardens reception area. Good to see the usually damp area with hardstanding. I have never seen a warden work as hard, always checking on newcomers Helpful and plesant every time I met him. I enjoyed my bike rides from the site. My dog enjoyed her walks. We even had some sunshine. Please can we have an improved toilet/shower block by next year.

Do it the 'Wirral Way'!

First week in June and another really good short break at this enjoyable site.  Pleased the hard working Wardens have had an office upgrade, not before time.  Just the outdated toilet block needs replacing now - it must be one of the 'originals'? The Wardens do their best but the toilet block is often steamed up and awash.  Increased number of hard standings useful. Walking - cycling on The Wirral Way is great, with plenty of scenery and good watering holes within striking distance. The visiting chippy was a disappointment (Thursday).  Mediocre fish and chips at best - Not that this detracts from the site though, eat healthy next time!

Loved this little site

We visited this site at half term & totally loved it. We even managed to pitch up next to our friends which was nice as it's usually difficult on a club site as you can't book a pitch. We had a teenager & a dog in our party & the location meant lots of freedom for both with the beach & country park a stroll away. The Wirral Way cycle path runs right past the site & is excellent if you like a nice gentle cycle with lovely views. Our dogs loved the beach at West Kirby when the tide was out - such a large expanse of nice sand to run on without disturbing anyone, they were so tired after, we were able to enjoy our ice creams in peace ! What we liked about this area of the Wirral was its sleepiness- no commercialism which usually happens at seaside places but we found plenty to do. We did take a trip through the Mersey tunnel for a afternoon visit to Liverpool to visit the docks (for the teenagers mainly) & we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was & while they wandered the shops we enjoyed the walk along the dock side looking at some of the interesting statues & plaques. This site is definitely on our return list as we felt we didn't even scratch the surface of the area in the time we had.

Fantastic site

Just returned from another visit like the site improvements, the same warden as last year  Erick is still there friendly as ever and Can not do enough to help, new assistant warden not sure of name seems ok but full of him self and bit  over zealous on some petty things, but he is new. not sure new to the club or just new to this site, just things I have noticed. Bit to much to the rule book. We all make mistakes most petty and daft, seen a few members p.......  Of with it all. Hope this does not stop them using this beatiful site in the future, I'm all for an easy life and a good break from it all, but hey ho see what the season brings, the only gripe with this site as with many club sites is the idiots with there flash cars ignoring the 5 mph site speed limit as posted all over, the site little kids are quick in between vans and the toilets, can not see an easy fix for this, I have seen the wardens telling members of but the idiots obiously think there above this and bullet prof , well they are in there cars  but it wants sorting a dead kid is no good maybe three strikes and there of any of the club sites, as the problem seems to  be wide spread, many thanks to Erick and Lynn for another fine break, keep up the good work, thank you

In need of an update

Visited 14th May - 22nd May 2015. Don't get me wrong, this is a great site in a lovely location on the Wirral. Handy for walking, cycling, sightseeing etc. However, I feel I must raise some issues relating to the site. Firstly, some of the hardstanding pitches are in poor condition - ours was slightly low-lying and flooded the awning following a spell of rain. Drainage is non-existent and we had to wait for the water level to subside - Not pleasent. Secondly, the (mens) toilet block was very cold at times - the 5 louver windows each had a glass panel missing allowing the (cold) wind to pass through. Finally, there are insufficient service points around the site (only 1) apart from the main toilet block, so it can be quite a walk. I hope this review is of some help - I don't like giving negative reviews, but feel in this case it is justified.

First time caravaners

We used this site as it was our very first trip and close to home, keith Evans was our warden and couldn't have met a nicer bloke, he took us across to our pitch and gave us complete beginners a crash course on setting up, have to say very impressed with the cleanliness of all the facilities, The kids play area was very good and they instantly made new friends which left us plenty of time to relax, would recommend this site and will be making a return visit soon.

West Wirral Stay

Just returned from a week at this site. Lovely area and ideal site, well maintained and managed. Facilities all clean and tidy. Play area for kids and plenty of choice for walks and cycle rides in the vicinity. Wardens are friendly, welcoming and helpful and full of advice. The Cottage Loaf pub is good eating nearby and Heswall close by has plenty of tea/coffee rooms and eating places - The 'avanti' is recommended. Beware of narrow road for approach with nasty road speed humps (poorly marked) as you pass the 'chalet site'. Handy for trips to Liverpool via Park and Ride at Hoylake Rail Station with very frequent trains. Other interesting locations to visit for all tastes within reach.

Wirral

Situated on the cliff top overlooking the river Dee, this is a lovely site. A short  out of the entrance there is the choice of either a beach walk or woodland along the Wirral way. The entrance road, however, is another matter. The long lane must be carefully negotiated due to road humps which aren't particularly visible, and a mirror outside the site gate would make exiting safer as vehicles from the sailing club can appear from the left without warning. (We noticed there was one for the static site further down the lane). We would advise visitors to take a walk around the site to familiarise themselves with the layout. We were pitched on a dead end road and several people passed us looking for a gate while we were there. A short drive to the park and ride at Hoylake enabled us to spend the day visiting Liverpool making use of a 'save away' ticket covering trains, buses and ferry. We found this really good value and easy to use, even going as far as Crosby to visit Antony Gormleys 'another place' figures which are scattered across 3 km of the beach from low to high water mark. There are 100 cast iron life sizes sculptures. It was surreal watching them disappear under the incoming tide. A visit to Port Sunlight is also interesting. Lord Levers Victorian village for his soap factory workers was way ahead of its time and could set an example today for its layout We would recommend a visit to this location

Mersey Treat

We have stayed on the Wirral a few times now. This trip, we had our seven old grandson with us. He thought it was great, to able to walk to the estuary and ride his bike down the cycle way in complete safety. It also benefits from a great children's play area and he soon made friends with others. The wardens are very helpful and keep all in a great condition. The location is perfect for trips to Liverpool across or under the Mersey or just explore the Wirral.

Amazing location

Once again a great experience staying here! Lucky to get the best pitch on"millionaires row" overlooking the Dee. The Wardens were really excellent and made up for the bad weather with their great sense of humour and hard work. Will be back next year for our son's Wedding nearby.
