nice site

We used to visit this site very regularly but haven't been for several years. Firstly, beware of the access road, far too many speed ramps which despite going very slowly and carefully will redistribute the contents of your caravan cupboards. The site is pleasant and in a beautiful location. Great wardens, seemed pleasant enough as we arrived late in the day and booked in quickly. The only real criticism we have is the dirty state of the facilities - in the evenings they were disgusting but even at 12.15 as soon as they'd been closed for cleaning, they weren't good, bin full of rubbish and items on the floor. One single (unused) sponge mop on the wall at the end is inadequate and people aren't using it anyway. The actual site is very neat and well kept so it's clearly otherwise well cared for. The location is fabulous, lots to do within a short distance.

Wirral Country Park

Stayed here for a five night break, facilities were really clean. Easy to find, friendly staff, great for outdoor pursuits. We were overlooking the Dee estuary. Would stay here again. Also a big thanks to the couple who helped me on the day we were leaving.

Most unhelpful warden yet.

Agree with previous comments. In fairness, only dealt with one of the wardens - lady with short grey hair. Very brusque, unhelpful etc. We needed kitchen roll on the Sunday when checking out - my toddler had been sick in the caravan so had run out (didn't tell her that bit). Just asked if they sold kitchen roll in the shop - she was cleaning as we were en route to the shop. She said they did but the shop was closed. Rather than open it, at 11:20, I had to do the 25min round trip to Tesco instead. That's just one example. There were others! On the return, I couldn't get in. 6 vans trying to enter at 11:45. Three trying to leave. Total chaos. Not enough space at entrance. We had to leave 30mins late (couldn't have left much earlier to be fair to due Tesco trip).  On a positive, this is a gorgeous site with a great play park for the kids. Could do with a toddler washroom and agree with previous comments that it is a shame that so few pitches can enjoy the lovely views.

Wonderful site. Pity about the wardens.

Our second visit to Wirral this year and enjoyed both trips. The location is fabulous, with easy access to cycle paths and walking routes. Quick links to local towns with a large variety of eateries and shops. Really the only downside is that the wardens do not seem to be as happy to be there as are most of the visitors. Rude and sarcastic. Not helpful. Visitors unable to park as wardens vehicles were occupying the visitor parking spaces. An unnecessary attitude in such a lovely place.

A missed opportunity

Being on the banks of the Dee Estuary with the glorious south facing views it's a shame so few pitches take advantage of the location. Out of 90 pitches only around 10 can see the view and then there's a great big hedge hiding it too. There's not even a bench from where to enjoy the breathtaking views. Noise from the near road which goes to the Dee Sailing Club was very noisy on Friday night especially when they go over the humps in the road. Location next to the Wirral Way is excellent with great walks to Parkgate in one direction & West Kirby in the other. We'll probably be back for the walks alone but was left a little disappointed by the site & also it not being open all year.

Good condition ; disappointing Wardens

The attitude of the Wardens was disappointing. Perhaps a sign of getting to the end of the season.

Excellent Site

We stayed at the site for 3 days in order to visit Liverpool and Chester. Met by friendly and very knowledgeable warden who was able to provide excellent local knowledge supplemented by additional material (including other visitors reviews!) of local area in a separate building which was open after office hours. Facilities are excellent, spotlessly clean and site is very well maintained. Disused railway close by allowing easy access (by bike) into West Kirkby which has a great train service to main Wirral towns and Liverpool with good connections to Chester. Only negative is that site closes at end of November and is very popular especially at weekends even outside of holiday season! Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent

It's a great site. We've been on our 4th visit and even the weather has agreed. There are lovely walks direct from the site. When we took our bikes we used the Wirral Way to cycle to New Brighton making really good speed until we discovered the winds coming from the North Wales coastline halved our progress on the way back. West Kirby is a fabulous place to visit just 3.5 miles to walk on the Wirral Way. We'll be back again soon.

First visit of many we hope

We chose this site for its location close to where hubby had a meeting on the Friday. We were really impressed with the site (despite torrential rain all day Saturday). Lots of little areas to pitch which made it feel spacious. Good sized pitches, wardens were great, clean facilities. Only problem we had was working out what went in which bin for recycling, there was a distinct lack of signs on them. Saturday evening was a bit noisy from live music from the club up the road but it didn't worry us too much. Nearest pub was a one mile walk from site or couple of minutes in the car. Take a torch if walking. Newspapers can be ordered from the office. Lots of lovely walking available on the doorstep. We will definitely be back.
