Good condition ; disappointing Wardens

The attitude of the Wardens was disappointing. Perhaps a sign of getting to the end of the season.

Excellent Site

We stayed at the site for 3 days in order to visit Liverpool and Chester. Met by friendly and very knowledgeable warden who was able to provide excellent local knowledge supplemented by additional material (including other visitors reviews!) of local area in a separate building which was open after office hours. Facilities are excellent, spotlessly clean and site is very well maintained. Disused railway close by allowing easy access (by bike) into West Kirkby which has a great train service to main Wirral towns and Liverpool with good connections to Chester. Only negative is that site closes at end of November and is very popular especially at weekends even outside of holiday season! Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent

It's a great site. We've been on our 4th visit and even the weather has agreed. There are lovely walks direct from the site. When we took our bikes we used the Wirral Way to cycle to New Brighton making really good speed until we discovered the winds coming from the North Wales coastline halved our progress on the way back. West Kirby is a fabulous place to visit just 3.5 miles to walk on the Wirral Way. We'll be back again soon.

First visit of many we hope

We chose this site for its location close to where hubby had a meeting on the Friday. We were really impressed with the site (despite torrential rain all day Saturday). Lots of little areas to pitch which made it feel spacious. Good sized pitches, wardens were great, clean facilities. Only problem we had was working out what went in which bin for recycling, there was a distinct lack of signs on them. Saturday evening was a bit noisy from live music from the club up the road but it didn't worry us too much. Nearest pub was a one mile walk from site or couple of minutes in the car. Take a torch if walking. Newspapers can be ordered from the office. Lots of lovely walking available on the doorstep. We will definitely be back.

Surprised but not in a good way

The site is lovely and in a perfect location to get out and about. Stayed 2 nights. Met by a lovely lady warden who was very helpful. Nice pitch with views over the estuary. Woke Saturday after a rather noisy night with cars on the road behind the site Torrential rain but we went for a walk and enjoyed it. 2 very wet people. We asked a grumpy male warden if we could stay late on the Sunday, not normally a problem unless they are fully booked, expected to perhaps pay a small fee for this but were told under no circumstances no we couldn't We got up Sunday glorious day and left early. Certainly leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when most of the wardens are so accommodating Other people had also mentioned the fact that the wardens there were not the friendliest people on this earth. Such a shame as it a handy site for us for a weekend break

Wonderful Wirral

This was our first CC site visit and only our second camper an experience. We found the wardens welcoming, but professional. We asked for a site near to family members and were given a range of pitches to choose from. Pitches were well spaced but will need to invest in some industrial strength pegs for hard standing. Some of the pitches have great views over the Dee estuary. You can order papers, croissants and afternoon tea from the shop. The shower block was centrally located and clean. The site is very close to a Social Club, where my husband was able to watch his beloved footy and they also had evening entertainment, although I'm not sure it would be suitable for young children. The Wirral Way is easily accessible, by bike, or on foot. West Kirby is a lovely little seaside town (about 3 miles away)  There is a little information hub on site if you want to explore more of the wider area. In conclusion, a great site, quiet, pleasant size, clean and definitely one to return to.

Wirrall break

Great location with country park and Dee estuary literally a stone's throw away. Easy links to Liverpool after a short drive to Hoylake. Site was good, shower room excellent. Noticed previous comments on wardens being grumpy. Didn't notice this, only they seemed slightly reticent or perhaps suspicious. Some issue with vehicle noise on road late at night, maybe connected with sailing club, overall fine site

mixed feelings

grumpy warden was our first impression! then squeezed into the last pitch at the far end of the site, made worse after the second night by a caravan being put within the 3 m spacing and totally blocking us in, chip van comes on a Thursday so no good for weekenders! late night boy racers up and down the road til well after midnight, and drones flying from the beach looking into the site! other than that the facilities are upto cc normal standards, but the wardens do really need a course on hospitatilty

Thanks

We needed a local site on the Wirral to be able to visit elderly parents; this site was perfect offering a central location to where we needed to be. The site was clean, quiet and dog friendly with easy access to great walks (Wirral Way)and the beach. Warden helpful and understanding with our booking for which we were very grateful. We recommend this site and will definetaly return Paul and Janet

Wonderful Site

We were lucky to stay on this site in fabulous weather and were able to do wonderful walks on the beaches and also along the Wirral Way.  West Kirby and Hoylake are both very close and have miles of fantastic beaches.  It is so easy to visit Liverpool and the outlet if the weather changes. The site is very quiet but seems overrun with dogs.  It is clean and very well run and the wardens are an asset to the club.  The toilet block has seen better days and could do with an overhaul but all in all, it is a beautiful site with views over the Dee Estuary.  We can't wait to return.
