When we arrived the new wardens had only been there two days. My Granddaughters wanted to do the treasure hunt but the new wardens had no details and asked her to come back the next day. Later that evening. in their own time. we saw the wardens going around the site setting up the treasure hunt and next day we set off, the girls loved it. I have to say a big thank you as this really made their break really special.
For the site, great views great location and as you would expect everything spic and span. 10/10 fantastic site and hope to go back very soon.
Estuary Glimpses
We arrived with some trepidation, having read several recent negative reviews relating to staff attitude. However, the lady warden who greeted us couldn't have been more pleasant and readily offered information and guidance. The only male warden we came across was also cheerful and friendly too. Very few pitches actually have a clear estuary view due to the tree cover. Further, many pitches are not long enough to be able to get very far back from the site road. We selected a pitch in a cul-de-sac, which was large, level and gravelled. It enjoyed 'estuary glimpses' and there plenty of room around the van and between us and our neighbours. The approach to the site is along a narrow lane passing by a static van site but its impact was only visual. It couldn't be seen once on site. It is well placed for enjoying the Wirral peninsular, with easy access to the country park and a walking and cycle track. Getting to Liverpool was really easy too with access from the Seacombe ferry terminal, where there is a free car park or by train from Hoylake, which also enjoys a free car park. Many of Liverpool's main attractions are also free to enter. We have 3 main misgivings about the site. First, the toilet block, whilst kept very well by the wardens, is small, cramped and has a poor layout. However, there was always plenty of hot water. The second is that there isn't a fence round much of the site and little to stop anyone entering from the lane. Finally, there is only 1 chemical emptying point (at the toilet block) and it is quite a trek from some parts of the site. Having said all that, we had a great time and would go back.
Fantastic Site
We stayed at Wirral Country Park for 3 nights on recommendation of friends........ we will definately be back.
The site was spotless, wardens very friendly, fantastic views & overall a very peaceful relaxing break.
Lots of dog walks & beautiful beaches to walk on, the country park by the entrance has breathtaking views & is a lovely place to exercise the dog.
We visited the beach at West Kirby which was lovely.
The only gripe we have is that campers do not abide by the site rules - 5 m.p.h speed limit on site, keep your dog on a lead at all times, apart from that everyone was very friendly & we had a fantastic restful break.
Good base for exploring The Wirral.
We have just returned from five nights at this site.We had pitch number 14 which had excellent estuary views but was a little exposed in the wind. Facilities were the usual good standard for CC. We were there outside of school holidays so no children around, the site however had very few empty pitches. There is a beach below the site which can be accessed easily via the Dee Sailing Club just down the road or via steps next to the entrance to the Country Park, we wished we'd known about it from the start, there was no information about the beach on site. Right next to the site is the Wirral Way, which gives good cycling and walking access to either Hooton or West Kirby. At West Kirby you can Walk to Hilbre Island at low tide. There are two local good eateries, The Cottage Loaf and The Anchor, both are dog friendly inside and outside in their beer gardens, and they serve a good meal too. Half an hours drive from site is the historic town of Chester with it's Medieval Cathedral, City Walls you can walk along and the unique Chester Rows, well worth a visit if you appreciate history. There is a small private static caravan site right next to the club site which has a Social Club, this was open at the weekend when we were there, CC members were welcome in there.
High winds large trees
Site is a cliff top site can be windy, BENT AWING POLES Most pitch's have large trees over or around limited sea river views The wardens who run the site not the most friendly spoke to assistance wardens Who are ok ,Toilet block needs a refit .if wet puddles say on site for days .
A lot of children and dogs on site some dogs chasseing the rabbits much to are disgust.
Lovely site and great out look
I stayed there for 4 days as I usually go every year at some point as its only hour away from home
The site is lovely with great outlook over the estuary to wales not so peace and quiet in school holidays . but still a good place to relax and unwind
The wardens and assisted wardens could have been more pleasant with a bit more cheer in there faces
Different ones from previous years but still a lovely site
Could do with more waste disposal points for toilet's instead of just the one at the toilet block because when your at the far end of the site its long way up to empty
Defiantly will return
Good location but not a place for a quiet break in school hols!
Have just spent 4 nights here' . The site is easily accessed and is very convenient for visits to both Liverpool and Chester. There are good walks from the site and it is easy to get to the beach on the estuary. Some pitches have a splendid view across the estuary. Local people were very friendly and helpful. We were offered advice re our trip to Liverpool by someone at the rspb centre ( burton mere certainly worth a visit) and also by someone in Chester. Buy a save away ticket for £5.20 return which gives you train travel as well as Mersey ferry, so can go by train and return by ferry and train or vice versa . Parking is free and plentiful at hoy lake station. It's a great pity that such advice wasn't forthcoming from the site wardens who, whilst not unpleasant, seemed uninterested in communicating with visitors. Half term wa not a good choice for a visit as the site was besieged with children tearing around on bikes and scooters. I felt particularly sorry for people pitched on 51 who had a constant stream of kids on bikes and people cutting through their pitch to the toilet block . The wardens are aware that this is a problem but seem unwilling to do anything about it. This would be an excellent site to visit out of school hols, particularly with wardens with more enthusiasm for their job and a friendlier rapport with their customers! I understand that being a warden is not an easy job but there are so many really good ones out there who take a pride in their site and go out of their way to help folk enjoy their holidays.

A really relaxing and stress free stay
We love coming to this site, this is about our fourth visit, we first came when we had two dogs and could walk all the way to West Kirby and back, lots of really nice walks.
Now, we only have one of the dogs left and she is getting on, but still managed couple of reasonable walks, though, alas, not as far as West Kirby!
The site itself is nicely laid out, and we managed to get our favourite pitch, looking out over the estuary, I read in one review that the shower block was small and dated, I think that is unfair, not once did I have to wait for either a shower or the loo, and they are kept spotlessly clean, what more can you ask for?
On the whole, we absolutely recommend this site.

Dogs delight
Staying at the Wirral site just an hour's drive away from home
Tried for a few years to book this site but always booked up. Well we are here now.The site is very well maintained the staff are lovely. Facilities are the usual standard for club sites and kept beautifully clean .
The area is lovely. Lots of walks available. Great for cyclist and very safe for children cycling
A walk or cycle to Parkgate to sample the award winning ice cream is well worth it. Called in at the Boathouse pub on our way but ack lovely friendly staff and its a dog friendly pub which gets my vote right away. Didn't sample the food but would recommend it as it's decor and surroundings are very tastefully done.
Off to walk to Hilbre island when the tide turns today blessed wifh glorious weather .Also a trip across the Mersey planned
All in all a lovely site
