Lovely site wardens doing their best with tired facilities

Wonderful setting and pitches. Toilets facilities when cleaned spotless it is sad wardens are trying to cope with refurbished toilets and showers which when busy become very wet and untidy looking and from other peoples comments are reflecting on them. I agree with many comments re club sites rebranding should have been spent on sites which have old facilities. Caravanning is increasing and people expect acceptable facilities. CL's are now improving many their sites to compete and is now our preference with good value and beautiful pitches

I Wish I Could Recommend It

The numerous pots and hanging baskets full of colourful flowers that greet you at the reception office might look nice but they can't really disguise that The Wirral Country Park is a bit shabby and run down. If I'm being polite you could probably call it "tired", but truthfully it needs some urgent TLC and serious money being spent on it. The roads around the site are badly pot-holed and flood badly after anything more than light rain. The hardstandings are scruffy and look tatty. The toilet block is definitely in need of refurbishment too. Two fresh water points on a site of this size is a woefully inadequate provision to be honest and I heard people complaining about it. It annoys me that the club has undoubtedly spent a small fortune on a pointless and wasteful rebranding exercise which nobody asked for, when sites like The Wirral Country Park are clearly crying out for some investment. Someone has definitely has got their priorities wrong. It is all a bit sad really because the site in in a lovely situation on the Dee estuary and the Wirral is a really interesting location and a good place to tour from.

40 years later (wow )

For 40 years I've been promising myself that I need to visit. Only now have we taken the opportunity to forfull our dream . Wow ! Well worth the wait, ( don't wait 40 years, go now you won't be disappointed, unless you are one of those idiot members that can't be pleased 😤,yes it's a members club ! (Loads of negative feedback.not warranted )perhaps they should try cleaning dirty toilets 😡.we've never meet grumpy wardens 😤Just dedicated workers, cleaning dirty toilets that some members leave in disgusting state 😠They look after the place to the best of their ability, with the facility's they have .well done Wirral . Top marks AAAAA *****

Toilet Block

A beautiful site but definitely needs toilet amenities improving, only 4 WC cubicles in the men's block on a site of this size is just not enough. Otherwise brilliant.

Lovely location

Stayed here for 5 nights beginning of August. We thought the set out of the site was lovely, with plenty of grass around the hard standings. Didn't look like a car park as some CC sites look - in straight lines etc. Some fabulous views from parts of the site. We preferred to be behind trees, for a bit of shelter from the coastal breezes. Warden very welcoming and helpful. Loo and shower facilities kept very clean, but they are in dire need of refurbishment. Appears to be the original loo block that has been tarted up with new doors and cubicles. It is the floor tiling that needs to be replaced. One of the shower tiles had a wide crack that I thought was a leaf lying on the floor. I feel that the rebranding budget would have been far better used on refurbishment as that would have been of benefit to all members. Visited Liverpool, Port Sunlight, and had several long walks on the huge beaches. We especially loved the walk across the sand to Hilbre Island -wow! We will certainly return.

Great location

Had a great stay at the Wirral Country Park, lots to do in the area, would definitely recommend visiting Liverpool, Chester and Port Sunlight, take your bikes and cycle the Wirral way which is just at the site entrance. My only complaint is the facilities, the shower/toilet block is clean but very old and tired and there is only one chemical emptying point which was a long way from some pitches, I expect a lot better for £26 a night.

Amazing Wardens

When we arrived the new wardens had only been there two days. My Granddaughters wanted to do the treasure hunt but the new wardens had no details and asked her to come back the next day. Later that evening. in their own time. we saw the wardens going around the site setting up the treasure hunt and next day we set off, the girls loved it. I have to say a big thank you as this really made their break really special. For the site, great views great location and as you would expect everything spic and span. 10/10 fantastic site and hope to go back very soon.

Estuary Glimpses

We arrived with some trepidation, having read several recent negative reviews relating to staff attitude. However, the lady warden who greeted us couldn't have been more pleasant and readily offered information and guidance. The only male warden we came across was also cheerful and friendly too. Very few pitches actually have a clear estuary view due to the tree cover. Further, many pitches are not long enough to be able to get very far back from the site road. We selected a pitch in a cul-de-sac, which was large, level and gravelled. It enjoyed 'estuary glimpses' and there plenty of room around the van and between us and our neighbours. The approach to the site is along a narrow lane passing by a static van site but its impact was only visual. It couldn't be seen once on site. It is well placed for enjoying the Wirral peninsular, with easy access to the country park and a walking and cycle track. Getting to Liverpool was really easy too with access from the Seacombe ferry terminal, where there is a free car park or by train from Hoylake, which also enjoys a free car park. Many of Liverpool's main attractions are also free to enter. We have 3 main misgivings about the site. First, the toilet block, whilst kept very well by the wardens, is small, cramped and has a poor layout. However, there was always plenty of hot water. The second is that there isn't a fence round much of the site and little to stop anyone entering from the lane. Finally, there is only 1 chemical emptying point (at the toilet block) and it is quite a trek from some parts of the site. Having said all that, we had a great time and would go back.

Fantastic Site

We stayed at Wirral Country Park for 3 nights on recommendation of friends........ we will definately be back. The site was spotless, wardens very friendly, fantastic views & overall a very peaceful relaxing break. Lots of dog walks & beautiful beaches to walk on, the country park by the entrance has breathtaking views & is a lovely place to exercise the dog. We visited the beach at West Kirby which was lovely. The only gripe we have is that campers do not abide by the site rules - 5 m.p.h speed limit on site, keep your dog on a lead at all times, apart from that everyone was very friendly & we had a fantastic restful break.

Good base for exploring The Wirral.

We have just returned from five nights at this site.We had pitch number 14 which had excellent estuary views but was a little exposed in the wind. Facilities were the usual good standard for CC. We were there outside of school holidays so no children around, the site however had very few empty pitches. There is a beach below the site which can be accessed easily via the Dee Sailing Club just down the road or via steps next to the entrance to the Country Park, we wished we'd known about it from the start, there was no information about the beach on site. Right next to the site is the Wirral Way, which gives good cycling and walking access to either Hooton or West Kirby. At West Kirby you can Walk to Hilbre Island at low tide. There are two local good eateries, The Cottage Loaf and The Anchor, both are dog friendly inside and outside in their beer gardens, and they serve a good meal too. Half an hours drive from site is the historic town of Chester with it's Medieval Cathedral, City Walls you can walk along and the unique Chester Rows, well worth a visit if you appreciate history. There is a small private static caravan site right next to the club site which has a Social Club, this was open at the weekend when we were there, CC members were welcome in there.
