surprised

did not know what to expect contradicting reviews from other members but after spending 5 days at this site i had made up my own mind and i thought it was brilliant the site was clean well manicured the wardens were brilliant nothing was too much trouble one minus point which i had to agree with other reviews were that the toilet and shower facilities were a little dated but were spotless the wardens did a real good job i enjoyed the area and places to visit i will most certainly visit again but again top marks to the wardens well done

Pleasant Suprise

Driving towards the site you can clearly see the industrial areas and as this was our first visit we began to think oh dear! but once over the bridge and pulling into the site what a contrast. A very pleasant site with pleasant wardens, we checked in and found our chosen pitch No10 a serviced pitch well worth paying the extra for us, room for car, van and awning. Facilties spotless as usual and well maintained, yes the shower block is a bit dated (the tiles mainly) but if the club refurbs them please keep the power showers. Did not use the play area or recreation room so cannot comment but they seemed popular. Great to watch the Whitewater rafters in action, Pub near entrance pricey but ok if you just can`t be bothered to cook, local Asda easy to walk to. Visited Beamish Museum where club members get 25% discount on entry, Hartlepool Maratime Museum, Durham. If you are taking bikes which we did not but would in future there are some great off road cycle routes especially by the river. Overall a great first stay would visit again.

Very good site - nice area

Just returned from a week here staying on a serviced pitch. It was our first trip to the North East of England. We thought the site was very good. Very pleased with the location - a good point central to Newcastle and North Yorkshire. Pleasantly surprised how nice the surrounding area was. The canoeing was interesting to watch and it was useful having so many shops close to hand, especially Asda which was only a five minute walk. The site was very clean although it did deteriorate at bit when the school holiday started - not the fault of the wardens. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

good site with contrasting wardens

White Water is a site we have visited many times. That in itself says a lot. Most things are excellent. However the children's playground is of a low standard and totally unsuitable for younger children. There is no swing. The playgrounds at other club sites are much better. I had two interactions with the lady wardens. One could not have been more welcoming, obliging, friendly and generally helpful. A real credit to the Club. The other was unhelpful, officious and rudely sarcastic. For no reason or benefit to anyone. When will all wardens realise they are in the hospitality business?

Great site

This is a great site, and such a good location, quiet but still so closed to the hustle and bustle. Asda 5min walk away but a 3mile drive. Beefeater next to the entrance, food very good. Lots of walks from the site, down the river or on the marsh. Also a large retail park 2min drive from site. Even when the site was full over the bank holiday weekend all was quiet and clean. National railway museum at Darlington is worth a visit and free. Saltburn beach and park lovely. This is a club site I will use again, as a great site at a great price.

Pleasantly Surprised

What a nice site and such pleasant wardens. I was on a full service pitch as this was all that was available when I booked. The standard pitches are very nice with a very large diverse selection. There are so many things to do around this site, for me it was walking and there are many different walks from this location. However there are local shops in the form of a retail park, as well as a large ASDA less than five minutes walk away. Stockton on Tees offers many pleasant things to do as does Middlesbrough. Watching the canoes fight their way through the barrage and then come back up via the conveyor belt was very interesting. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Please get rid of stones from playpark

A regular for us and one of our favourites. The play park has a ground covering of pea shingle stones. These are always dusty and the children get very dirty from this which is not ideal when we are caravanning. The stones are often thrown onto the slide [yes the children are told not to do this but they are playing!] this creates a noise and therefore has an impact on neighbouring club members who may be trying to relax. I saw one man sweeping the road where his child had dropped large handful of the stones on the road and this again shows that parents are [in the main] very responsible. Who ever had the idea of putting these stones in a play park needs shot. No other club site to my knowledge has this surface in the play park. This needs changing immediately !! Thanks again to the staff for a friendly welcome - please support us in the stones issue.

nice site if you like kids screaming

we have just returned from this site, never before have we seen children allowed to play on bikes on a road through a site and there parents were no were in sight!! big sign up on the toilet door saying no washing down of outfits and we witnessed this happening, also clearly states only one car per pitch and this is also being abused, finally i have to say the wardens are not very pleasant tried several times to make conversation only to just be looked at as if to say dont speak to me!!! also states in the caravan club rules states cars to be parked opposite side to caravan door this is also clearly being abused!!! wardens just dont appear to be intrested!!!  we are a normal couple dont usually have a problem but this site needs looking into

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Further to your comments the Site Staff got in touch as they wanted to address some of your concerns.

White Water Park Caravan Club Site is an ideal site for families and during the Easter school holidays many families with children were staying on site. The Site Staff take site safety very seriously and will always speak to children on bikes when they are seen to be riding them in a manner that could be dangerous to others on site, or when reported to them by visitors on site, but as rightly pointed out, the first and last responsibility lies with the parents of any children on site.

Club rules do permit the use of dry wash products to clean outfits and the Wardens were aware of at least 4 outfits that were cleaned using these products during the 2 week Easter break and as such it may be this that you saw occurring during your stay.

With regards to pitching, The Club rule states that when you’ve sited your caravan, where possible park your vehicle alongside with the handbrake securely applied. It does not mention that cars are not allowed to be on a pitch on the door side of an outfit. The Club also allows (if there is room) more than one car on a pitch during the day and indeed overnight, as long as the fire break regulations are not compromised and payment for the additional car has been made. At White Water Park the pitches (apart from non-awning) are all large enough to accommodate extra vehicles when required as long as there is a minimum clear space of 3 metres between adjoining outfits in any direction.

As you can see from previous reviews the Wardens at White Water pride themselves on their friendliness and always do their utmost to give members a warm welcome and are available to discuss any concerns on site. As such they are sorry that during your stay what you encountered did not meet your expectations and they would like to assure you that they work hard to be helpful and approachable to all members.
