Miserable wardens

having been to this site several times before,it was sad to see the wardens have changed, the last ones were friendly ,helpful and nothing to much trouble, the wardens on site now are the most miserable ,rude and unhelpful people I have ever met,I think this will become a empty site ,as other people were complaining about the wardens, one little girl aged between 3. And 4 was told off for riding her bike to fast,a old lady was told because her dog had wee'd on the grass, and regardless of you cleaning after your dog ,you were still told to get them off site, even tho advertised as dog walk on site and nearby, clearly not a pet friendly site anymore, won't be visiting again while these wardens are in residence there,so didn't turn out to be the relaxing break intended.

First Time Report of Brilliant Site

Coming to this site for the first time to pick up a new (to us) motorhome nearby we only had two nights here but we could tell it would be good for longer stays at some time in the future as the location was very good with the nearby superstore, the Tees Barrage and the retail park all within easy walking distance. The Tees Barrage was particularly impressive and we kept going back to it at various stages of the tide to see what was going on. We didn't have much time to explore and we would have liked to have sussed out the local public transport so this is a site to re-visit at some time in the future.

Back yet again.

We do tend to use this site to visit family in the area but we would still use it if they were not there. A typical club site easy to reach, well maintained and with friendly wardens. The site is flat but most pitches are grass where we would prefer hardstanding but we have never had any problem with the grass. There is some road noise from the A19 during the day but not serious although we have never heard any problem with the road to the hotel. Asda is within walking distance at the back of the site but if you want to drive to one or get fuel then Morrisons at Teesside Park is a better bet. You are very close to the A66 and this gives easy access to most of the attractions in the area.

Great place to stay

We have just returned from a week on this site. It is a lovely site very clean and very well kept and run. Wardens were all very friendly and helpful. Site was busy but can understand popularity. Lots of cycle routes from site which was great also David Lloyd nearby which we were able to use. Supermarkets within cycling distance so very handy but site so quiet and secluded you would never know. Would definitely visit again. Well done wardens - lovely site. Shame other visitors to site were not a bit cleaner in the toilets number of toilets left dirty or unflushed was a disgrace. - wonder if they treat the toilets in their houses the same way. Feel very sorry for wardens having to clean them up.

Lovely site

Stayed for two nights and was very impressed with the site.  I rang before hand to explain my son is a wheelchair user and was given a pitch next to the facilities  (which are great ). The wardens are very friendly. There's lots to do in the surrounding area including cinema,  bowling etc and a decent pub right next to site. The  kids loved watching the seals at the barrage. Will definitely be back !

A place of many contrasts

As we approached the site it was good to see how a local beauty spot had been created in an old industrial part of the UK. The site was filling up for the weekend and our pitch options were limited, so we went for a pitch at the far corner of the site. A walk round the neighbouring water park led us to the river and its wildlife - particularly birds and seals. We walked to the infinity bridge to plan a photoshoot that evening, but this proved disappointing because half the lights on the bridge were not working. Returning to the site, we noticed a private party was in full swing around two caravans - table, half a dozen chairs, cars parked in front and alongside, but not too noisy - until well after midnight when even a little party laughter is far too much and very unfair on other campers. A warden had walked past this developing party just as we were returning, around 10pm, and he knew exactly where we meant when we told him the next morning, as we moved to another pitch - beside the entrance and the noisy hotel driveway, with regular vehicle noise and unnecessary shouting and swearing, although they were quiet after 11pm. Showers are very powerful and it seems strange how we can have showers that would perforate an eye or eardrum, but a bucket of water and a mop is too dangerous. Wonder if the water pressure was to blame for cracking all the shower tiles? Great place, but not if you want a peaceful break.

A quick escape!

We spent a night at this site last weekend to escape our neighbours who were having a huge party in their garden (they did warn us in advance!). We were really surprised by how peaceful it was. The facilities were clean and the whole site was a great place to be. The local pub did a good evening meal and we went back for breakfast the next morning. We went to Teesside shopping park (2 mins drive away) in the afternoon and the kids played in the small play area. The wardens were friendly as usual. Overall, I would recommend this site to anyone.

Caravan Washing Not Allowed

Lovely site and location. First time in 27 years of caravanning I was told caravan washing was not allowed on site. This is because whatever you wash off your caravan could kill the grass? This ban is also in place on pitches without grass, which we were on, as its a site wide ban? Maybe this is why the site was half empty in the peak season?

Comment from The Club

Many thanks for leaving a review. The Caravan Club policy on the washing down of outfits on site is that it is not possible unless there is a specific wash down area. Please see P668 (3f) of "The Caravan Code" in the Sites Directory and Handbook.

If visitors to the site wish to carry out day to day mirror/screen/lights cleaning ie to make their outfit road safe, then this is perfectly acceptable as is the use of Dry Wash products. The Warden Team at each individual site are responsible for the application of this policy on the site.

At Whitewater Park, 74 out of 88  Standard pitches are grass and the site is open for 52 weeks of the year and the Warden Team work very hard to maintain those pitches to the best standard possible and water that contained detergents/contaminants in solution could cause damage to the pitch.  I trust you understand and I hope this helps to answer your concerns.  Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Chill out time

We found the site to be very clean and in an ideal location, the managers (wardens) were very friendly and helpful,  if you could have the same calibre of people running all sites that would be fantastic. Our only downer was the children could of been controlled better by the parents, they did tend to run wild.  We would definitely use and recommend this site.again.
