Peaceful site

Very well maintained and peaceful site, good bus routes to Southwold and Lowestoft, great beach walks and close proximity to nature reserve , first time I had heard a skylark in the uk in years. There are some negative comments on the site reviews about Lowestoft and I agree the town centre is a bit run down but I think many town centres are struggling these days, however the promenade and beach are very well maintained and the sands immaculate. The toilet block on this site desperately in need of refurbishment, although they are kept clean, tiles cracked and shower controls with flaking plating. Sailors home pub very welcoming, decent pub grub at a reasonable price, Waterfront restaurant, which came well recommended but please note closed Mondays

Excellent site in a convenient location

First time to Suffolk and used this site for a 2-night stay. Though the weather was bit cool, the site itself was great and well situated for exploring the area. The site facilities are all good and up to the usual Club standard. A good restaurant as well as a pub which serves food are located just outside the camp grounds. We'll be back, probably more than once! Recommended.

Peaceful weird part of the world

Stayed here for 3 nights from 30th April. Great location on the beach side. Unfortunately weather not great but we did walk along the beach a few times and even managed to find some amber. Site facilities all round are great. Local pub the Sailors Rest is superb value for money and the quirkiness adds to the atmosphere. Do visit the time warp that is Southwold, and the coastline south towards Aldeburgh, Also try and take the tourist route into real Suffolk. Don't go to Lowestoft it's an awful place!

Happy Stay

Just returned from a very nice stay of 5 days, weather good for us as we like walking so not to hot or cold, lovely pitch (98) in a sheltered corner, site is very quiet and you can hear the waves breaking over the stoney beach, wonderful. Staff very friendly and efficient, site really kept clean and tidy. We visited the RSPB site at Minsmere during our stay using the Great Saving vouchers which meant we had free entry, well worth a visit even if not really interested in wildlife, as we are, as they have three really nice walks of around 2 miles each. Also visited Southwold and Aldeburgh both worth a visit. Overall very pleased with the site and surrounding area, will visit again at a different time of year to get the change of season.

OK site, good if you like dogs

We stayed on the "beach" side of the site, everyone has 2 or 3 dogs it seems and as the site is next to a vast expanse of shingle cum scrub land (which is the beach) is good for them. We are not keen on dogs though. Noise from a few dogs yapping at 6:00am and traffic down adjacent road. Site facilities are a little dated. Location is OK, site is down a narrow road. Kessingland village itself offers little.

A gem of a site

This was our first visit here and we loved it . The wardens were always friendly and helpful and the site spotless in every way. We cycled to local towns - Southwold is lovely and walked all over Benacre nature reserve. It was stunning to see the erosion on the coast line, the wide vistas and the wonderful wildlife - oh and pigs! We loved the pigs. There aren’t good cycle routes which was a shame but with a bit creativity you can avoid most of the A roads. RSPB Minsmere is nearby with its wealth of bird life and Benacre is in easy walking distance. We had a seafront pitch which was delightful even this early in the year and the ‘Waterfront’ restaurant is fantastic. I can also recommend the Skate from the fish and chip shop. It’s a long drive for us - over 4 hours but we will be back. Thank you wardens for looking after us so well.

First ever campsite stay : we'll be back!

As our first ever stay on any campsite anywhere in our first camper, we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. Instructions/directions were very clear and the Host made sure we understood things before we headed to our pitch, including reminding us to fill up with water. He also pointed out where on site would be the best motorhome service point for our particular size/shape van. We opted for a Beach-side pitch which was very quiet and peaceful, despite being full. With the right weather it would be perfect for sunsets, sunrises and stargazing. Exactly what we wanted. The standard of cleanliness in the toilet block and in fact the whole of the site was exceedingly good. We look forward to returning.

First Visit, but not the Last!

Our first visit to White House Beach site upon it opening for the new season. The wardens made us very welcome upon arrival - lovely friendly people; seasoned campers who obviously loved their work. In fact off to do some grass strimming even though it was blowing a gale! They gave us lots of information on the local places to eat. Making use of this we had a drink in the local pub- the Sailors Home- whilst waiting for our reservation in the local restaurant , The Waterfront. The meal was exceptional and beautifully presented. The menu in the pub looked like good pub grub and the best part is that both pub and restaurant are at the entrance to the Campsite! We pitched on the beach side and had some brilliant bracing walks on the shingle beach. Great facility for members with dogs who were making good use of it. The showers and toilet block were immaculately clean and up to the usual high standard of the club. Only an observation and not a complaint- but a few more hooks in the showers would be beneficial. What made it special for us was the friendliness and welcome from the wardens. Many thanks!
