New Year at Wharfdale

First time at Wharfdale site it won't be the last. We were looking for a last minute getaway from Christmas till New year and seen Wharfdale had availability. The site is fantastic very clean, friendly and helpful staff. My wife and two children loved every minute of it. Lots to do with some good walks, very scenic views, close by local pubs which allow dogs in, good food a Swiming baths next to the site for the kids. The Wardens put on a little party for New Year with drinks, food and a quiz which made bringing in the New Year all that more special. I would recommend Wharfdale site to anyone and we will be booking up again soon. Thank you to the Wardens at Wharfdale for making our 5 night stay from Christmas to New Year special.

New Year at Wharfedale

This site is fantastic at any time of year being in a fantastic location catering to a wide range of interests and ages. This is our second New Year here and the first with the 2015 wardens. What I can I say?! Janette, Geoff and the team of wardens went more than the extra mile to lay on a New Years party with buffet, quiz, music and even the TV to count the new year in with Big Ben. A great big thank you from us. You made staying on the site a pleasure from your hard work in maintaining it to the friendly and welcoming reception we received on arrival. This team together with the sites location make it a dream to visit and we will be back to enjoy it and the local area as soon as possible. Many thanks once again and we hope you have a great new year.

Good and bad points for motorcaravannres

We like this site a lot.The last stay was made better because of the excellent team of wardens. They are pleasant and most helpful Well done! However, as motorcaravanners we use public transport when on site and were annoyed to learn from a regular bus passenger that North Yorkshire County Council is planning to remove the service from Grassington to Buckden and back.Unfortunately, the consultation period for comments had passed. This means no bus from the site entrance to Grassington in bad weather. We have not revisited Bolton Abbey site because the bus service from there to Grassington was reduced to a useless 3 times a day service last year. This service was only retained following strong public opposition ,otherwise it would have gone the journey! It's a pity that the Caravan Club does not keep an eye on what's happening around Club sites so that Members' views can be expressed at the appropriate time.(I'm prepared to eat my words to find that an opposition to the plans has been lodged by them!) I'm not saying we won't return to Wharfedale, but this sort of thing does not encourage one.

Well done

Just had two nights at this lovely site, staff work very hard to keep all facilities spotlessly clean. Just a shame some people using the site don't clean up especially when using washing up sinks. Only takes a few minutes to rinse your sink after washing up. Be fair to the staff and other members. Although toilet block is old it was immaculately clean and warm during a very cold  weekend. A lovely spot for a quiet break. I also agree about the speed of some car drivers, stick to speed limit please.

A little disapointed

Having been 2years since we visited this site which was then members only, We found that the toilet block was rather untidy with either members or nonmembers not cleaning up after themselves, I would not use the toilets and this is not what we expect from the people using the site - ps the wardens cleaned the blocks immaculately. Also as the site was reasonably quiet the amount of vehicles exceeding the speed limit was unbelievable, yes the site is great & the walks were tremendous, especially down by Linton falls were the river was bursting it's banks. So Members & Non-members alike, please respect the club & it's facilities.

Our first visit

We were familiar with the area but not the site as we usually visit Strid Wood. It was lovely to see the children dressed up for Halloween, the wardens had worked hard to provide the activities. Walks from the site were varied and as motorhomers we appreciated the bus service which allowed us to visit Grassington, Skipton and Ilkley. We plan to return when the days are longer so that we can explore further up the dale. This is a lovely site, clean, well looked after with friendly wardens who were very helpful. Can't wait to return in the spring !

Wonderful Wharfedale

Today we returned from a short break at this lovely site, one of our favourites. There are wonderful walks in the area, many of them straight from the site, but this time we took a drive over to Stainforth Force to see the salmon leap and we were not disappointed. It's an addictive pastime, watching the salmon trying to leap up waterfalls to get back to their spawning grounds. We also took a walk up to Catgill Foss - a huge waterfall in beautiful surroundings, well worth the uphill walk to see it. The stunning scenery of Wharfedale was even more beautiful with it's autumn colours. The facilities at this site are always kept clean and warm and the site is well looked after by the hardworking wardens.
